OK so we bought slime for our Mountain bikes to test and see if slime works or not and this is our result....

This past Friday we went for a casual MTB ride in the streets and veld. On our way home my friend got a flat wheel - luckily near the house. Ok so at first we where disgusted about the slime that did not work ... so we thought we had to investigate and see why it did not work ...

We took the tire off and this is what we first saw

So know we wanted to find out why the slime leaked and did not do its job because we could not see any thorns in the tire ...and this was the result

NOTE: This thorn was in the tube - we pulled it out of the tube  ... There was no signs of thorns on the tire

So with further investigation we also saw the follow

Ok so we put the tube back in the tire WITHOUT PATCHING it and inflated it again and spin the wheel ... it got flat agian ...we inflated it again and then it stayed harder ...so we put it back onto the bike .... pumped it and went for another ride ... and it is still not flat today ....

so according to me ... slime works

PS: If you count the green dots (slime that came out) you will see there is no less than 7 puncture holes .....

I have never used the "Slime" brand but have used "Dr Sludge", "CST" and now on Joes (yes they do make prefilled tubes). In 3 years I have not replaced a tube but have pulled out thorns out of my tyres and it got sealed. So maybe it's the "slime" that is not good.

i guess it did work because we did not had to patched the tube ... just think the thorn that broke off and was sticking only into the tube maybe moved around while we where riding and then the slime could not do its job 100% ... like I said - after we pulled the thorn back , we inflated the tire and it is did not go flat again ... so we blame it on the thorn Sleepy

It leaked so much because there was a broken off thorn that went inside the tire and got stuck in the tube, the thorn prevented the slime from sealing. After ive took the tube out and pulled out the thorn it sealed.

I had 7 punctures on the read wheel and 2 on the front.

I've had a little success with SLIME in my step daughters MTB tubes. It has saved her a walk or 2.

However for a long term solution convert to tubeless and use either Stan's or Joe's fluid.

I even rode over a thorn bush at Lost City while avoiding walkers in the sand, still finished. No problems. I think I can see 3 thorns in the front tyre, I havn't looked at the back.

I worked in a game park in Hluhluwe and used to ride in the park itself. I had slime in my tyres and got a puncture in my front. I thought that the slime had failed me. When I took my tube out, I counted 28 thorns in the tube. So yes, I think slime does work!

I like OKO in my tubeless - on Tuli I had a twig in my sidewall, one of the guys pulled it out and it sealed. No trouble.

Since I bought my bike (about 1000km off road ago) I haven't even had the need to remove the tires from the wheels. I have also only had the need to pump the tires about 3 times. All thanks to slime... ( or luck..cant be sure until I take a look at the tubes)

When i got my MTB it was  clueless tubeless so i bought a tube conversion kit for about R200 (consists of 2 slime tyres). 1st ride i rode over some glass which shredded my tyre and tube deflated about 2/3 before sealing, quick park tyre patch to cover the cut and pump and i was able to continue.
