Hog_ Posted September 16, 2009 Share Im going Nevagal thanks for the opinions guys Good choice! I put a pair on before last year's rain started. They prefer the ground to be soft, but they do well in all conditions.
Ox_Wagon Posted September 16, 2009 Share Rad' date=' the most popular setup that Ive seen around is a conti mountain king on front and a speed king on the back. Would anyone else agree??[/quote'] I've actually got a Race King on the back and a Mountain King up front. Also using the same setup.

Cassie Posted September 16, 2009 Share Bos, You are quite correct!! The Xmarks are fairly well endorsed by the EPIC riders....not so?That's where I'll take my suggestions from...tried & tested over an epic event...mixed terrain as well (bit of everything). AndreZA Posted September 16, 2009 Share What about the new Maxxis Aspen. I've actually never seen it in SA but it gets great reviews overseas.

I think this is the combination you will find at the sharp end of most XC and marathon races at the moment. I'm very, very happy with mine. Also about half the SA retail price if bought from CRC. My second choice would be Racing Ralphs, however the side walls slice up very, very easily.
IdeJongh Posted September 16, 2009 Share What sort of KMs should one expect on the Xmarks? I know, I know it depends on the terrain, you riding style, your weight, the wind direction, and whether its snowing on the drakensberge, but what have you guys been getting? I rode Xmarks on my previous bike and got a new set with my new bike in March. Got a long but thin sidewall cut last week and sat down to patch it and realised how intensly worn the sidewalls really are, I suspect i might have to replace. Normal? I have not tried Shwable or Conti's So I couldnt comment on them. The Race kings looked nice fast summer tires that shouldnt wear to fast.

Have same non-2blis with home conversion going, and rode well for about 2 months before sidewall cut. I just dont want to sit in a race with this kinda issue if they do wear fast, but going to be difficult to sway from xmarks, bang for buck, but will give race kings a look, thnx.
