Tumbleweed Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 when you read many of the reports about cadel dumping the 'nearly man' moniker, most describe the rainbow jersey being the next best thing to the yellow jersey from the tour. if you were a pro cyclist, which would you prefer to win?
gummibear Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Not many people know what the stripes on the jerasey are ....but almost everyne knows what the yellow jersey is.I would go for Mellow yellow.
AndreZA Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 but you win the yellow jersey at the Giro del Capo aswell so people might just think you are good. @Windblown, who actually needs to know what they mean? It's not like you will be wearing it out in public and expect people to come to you and ask for signatures.

SwissVan Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 World Champion has a better ring There's only one elite rainbow jersey every year, but potentialy lots of yellow TDF's ones.
TNT1 Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Don't the rainbow bands come complete with built in curse anymore?
Willehond Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 You mean A yellow jersey like Cancellara won (and then lost) or THE yellow jersey, which Contador won? BIG difference. Wearing the yellow jersey for one day does not compare to the World Champ jersey, but winning the Tour (the REAL yellow jersey) is more important than the WC jersey. Case in point: Anyone remember Igor Astarloa??? Bet you remember who won the Yellow jersey in 2003...
TNT1 Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Yeah, yeah, the one time barloworld baldy, and world champ...

Lets be generous, and say he was cursed, generally crap and lucky in one race

rock Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 appears the curse carries though to MTB too - Christof Sauser.......nothing this year (apart from the epic)
SwissVan Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Sooooo... TDF winner sounds better than World Champion No wonder we cyclists are like we are....
