I passed a HUGE group of cyclists on the old Pretoria road on Saturday. They were all in single-file and riding on the shoulder. It just made me happy.

Take a picture and post it on here with the title -

Cyclists behaving ..... well!!!!!

and we'll see how many 'hits' it gets' date=' and how many pages the thread runs toWink

[/quote']

That heading is an oxymoron...... it does not exist!!!!!!!

The posting on the previos page about Robots out in Witkoppen...... the general rule is that the intersection should then operate as a four way stop AND EVEN MORE CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN THAN USUAL!!!!!!!!...... but it is useless telling that to testosterone driven cyclists in a bunch.

On behalf of all my roadie friends, give it a break please.Wink

Why!!!!!...... or do they not like it when somebody tells them they are stupid and irresponsible for endangering their own lives??????

thehermanator What's safe to you may be studip to someone else and vice versa. I am glad you are all up for running the red when its safe...I guess just like the Taxi's. It's safe because people will get out of my way..untill someone does not.

Dont worry I have done the same many times....untill you actually see someone get hit, your view changes pretty quick after that.

You have got to be carefull when you stop an East Rand roady to chirp about his riding. A number of bad things can happen.

Some involve folding the bike, inserting the bike or component and extreme cases a rather fast moving 9mm projectile.

You have been warned

That 'other' thread has faded away today, but stands at 25 Pages, 244 Replies, and 5,954 Views.

If only people could focus that much on some good news or good initiatives for a change!  Wink

Do you all, also take pictures of every speeding car, every mom with her kid standing on the front seat, every taxi overtaking on a blind rise, or driving in the yellow lane.....

If they want to do it, let it be...we can not change the attitude of Taxi driver, nor can we change the attitude of certain cyclist. Does not matter how many times you post this.

Wasn't Illovo, we dont cycle down Jan Smuts at all.

We did however cross Jan Smuts at Loch this morning but it was around 06:15.

Road safety should be top of the list.  Jumping a traffic light is silly for whatever reason.

We all ride to keep fit and most importantly to have fun.  If cars, taxis, motorbikes skip robots is not an excuse for us to do so.  There are way to many cyclists who get taken out by motorized transportation.  If we can be a little more cautious, I am sure that we will start to earn respect on the roads.

For club marshalls and club captains it should be your responsibility to ensure that all cyclists obey the road rules.

Just to clarify.  There is NO Cyclelab group on weekday mornings.  There is a group that leaves the Engen at the top of Main Rd Bryanston at 5:00am.  There are a lot of CycleLab riders in this group, but also plenty of Club 100 riders as well as Dimension Data, Northcliff Cycles etc etc.  Because of the number of CycleLab riders, Lovemore (the CycleLab driver) follows the bunch some mornings to help anybody that may have a problem.  He ends up helping many non-CycleLab riders as well.

This ride is not organised or controlled by CycleLab, and CycleLab can't be held responsible for what people in this group do.  Lovemore is there to help people.

I am sorry to say, but you will not be able to change the view of Motorists towards cyclist, motorcyclists or taxis. Does not matter what you do....that is the real world

Either of the latter two depending on prevailing conditions.
