There's a difference between reading a sentence and taking it at face value, and reading the same sentence in context and understanding the intended tone of the post. You seem to be the only one to take what was being said in a literal sense. Everyone else, on the other hand, seemed to be able to read and understand the post in the manner and for the purpose it was intended.

There was a group of riders riding together, they had stopped at a traffic light, a driver stopped at the same light and decided the cyclist were impeding his progress by also stopping. He acted like a big fat wally and hurt someone in the process.

Now tell me BigH, I think some clarity is required here. You seem to be of the opinion that what the driver did was perfectly understandable. Is it your openly stated standpoint that what the driver did was justified and the blame should be laid upon the cyclist's shoulders? A simple yes or no will suffice here.

Don't hold your breath!! Getting an answer from H when cornerned makes the engineering feat of the bridge over the river Kwai pale by comparison!!!

... is a little consideration.

I read endless threads here about cyclists behaving badly and motorists too. At this mornings Cyclelab ride one of the cyclelab ladies was knocked down by a car cnr witkoppen/Montecasino blvd.

Having finished our loop and waiting patiently at the traffic light' date=' our hero in a black BMW WGN 478 GP put on a stellar performance. In a show of pure agression, arrogance, and amazing stupidity, he pulled off with a wheel spin as the light turned green to demonstarte to us his power and annoyance at having cyclists around his Vehicle. She was knocked over, with cuts and bruises to her arm, visibly shaken and shocked, and the BMW was immediately surrounded by an angry C1 group. It took him a while to emerge and explain his pitiful behavior. Standing at about 1.4m tall it was clear to all what his car was compensating for.

It amazes me that there is so much unnecessary aggression and dumb behavior that could have ended a lot worse this morning. Is it just JHB?

I hope she recovers fast.

Its funny reading these posts. I actually know the guy who was in the bmw. Its a complete different story that he tells and knowing him very well, i can gaurentee he is far from aggressive , in fact he is a against any sort of violence.

But as usual the cyclist is always innocent. In the cradle things are coming to a head. Here is the test, ask any resident what they think about cyclists and you will here that they are like taxi drivers, aggressive, think they own the road. Mob mentality at its best.

Everything is relative - I did a 3 day mountain bike race in the Cradle on the weekend and there was nothing but friendliness all round. Perhaps the only hint of aggression was an idiot in a bakkie doing about 100kph round a bend on the wrong side of the dirt road who shook a fist at us when we gave him the flat hand "slow down" wave. Other than that - the "locals" and cyclists got along famously.

Methinks the "cradle" versus cyclist angst is just a mole hill turned into a mountain...

Bob , Bob , Bob....... you must be the guy they use at Liberty that write their fine print.

What the BMW driver did was NOT justified at all..... if it was the truth that Rude wrote. According to "Cradleresident" it now seems that the account of the events may not be true........ or maybe I am not reading everything in context again...... is there any fine print anywhere!!!!!

So what did happen?  Was the cyclist not innocent?

If you want to tell the other side of the story so that everyone can learn from what happened, tell it.  What you have posted so far doesn't really say anything.

Firstly, I hope the lady is okay irrespective of who is to blame.

Delgado... We have so many good rugby players in SA, that the Aussie teams take our second rate players to improve their teams.

As usual, 3 sides to every story.

We have heard the cyclists side.

I am interested to hear the driver's side.

and I would LOVE to hear what really happened.

What ever really transpired, its sad that someone got hurt. Accident or not.

Mayvbe you can answer these questions to us...then we can make up our ouwn minds, and leave emotion, and "what it looked like" and "he gave me a glaring look" et cout of it.

1. Did the cyclist "suround" the car?

2. Was the cyclist obstuction the car at all?

3. Did the driver wheel spin while pulling away?

4. Did the car hit the cyclist?

5. Was the cyclist in the "way" of the car?

6. Did the car veer into the cyclist?

Now I can make up my own mind....

ps. Why don't you get the drive to post his side of the story here also?

Correct the drivers story must also be heard, i'm certain the lady knocked down is also not an aggressive person. Perhaps the bakkie driver who saw what happened and took the keys away could also comment as he must have had strong motivation for it.

something doesn't sound right here, you can't spin a BMW's wheels? Traction control? Or is it a old BMW? So if the said BMW driver managed to spin , he lost control and hit a cyclist. If thats not aggrssive then Confused if he tried to be funny... then he's an idiot.
