They say when you have had a bad experience you normally tell up to 13 people who will tell again...<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

When you have had a good experience, you tell up to 3 people...

So I decided to tell a whole lot more people that I?m proud to be South African!! I?ve been in the sport since 1987, thus I based my ?opinion? on several years of trail and error too...

OK so I?ve been fortunate to travel around the world and worked and raced abroad for 6 years. Thus I feel we often overlook the good things that come our way here on our doorstep:

1)      Chamois Cream: For many years I?ve been using the famous brand Assos chamois cream, and would NOT have it any other way!! Training for the Epic you need the stuff to keep your behind happy J
Then I arrive at the local bike shop to buy new stock as I left it a bit late for the next long ride... And Nooooo they didn?t have any Assos Chamois cream left!!!
So VERY sceptic I decided to try the local manufactured MARK II Shammy cream... against my better judgement....
HOW WRONG I?VE BEEN... This stuff is GOOD!!! At ? of the price it is EVEN better on the wallet

2)      Lube: Now many people have tried and used the Squirt Lube. Even International reviews prove the point. I don?t need to say more other than this is a Proudly South African export.

3)      Athletes: If you look at one of the biggest factory racing teams in the world for MTB ? Specialized, they have signed, Burry Stander, Conrad Stoltz and Dan Hugo... somehow we South Africans are coming good and are proud exports..

4)      Races: Cape Epic, Sani2C, Argus, 94.7 ? these must rate as some of the best in the world...

I?m sure there is more we can add to the list.. but we have to value what we have!! And even more support what we have!!

i'd say 80% of all riders use clothing from local companies.

only the ponces on assos, giordana etc. the rest of us are cool with our cs fA, rapid, anatomic etc. etc.

Squirt and Mark Beneke's Bum Rub are two products I use and would recommend unreservedly.

Our clothes are also made by a local company  (Margyn Promotions) and I would happily recommend them for the Epic.

What ever happened to Produx? Are they still welding up frames or are they also importing pre painted carbon frames?

Produx did some very trick carbon fibre panels for a Porsche GT2 (mega megabucks!) that races in Sports & GT Cars at Killarney.

For bottomly care, I can recommend Fisan (which I discovered when son of bikemonster) was a teeny tiny. Not sure if Fisan is a South African brand though.

Isn't USN South African?

The technology developed in the '70's and 80's for the SADF with frequency hopping radios, was a world first and was exported to the rest of the world.

The SA ATM banking system is far superior to both the UK and USA.

Al we need to do now is get the interst rates and bank charges in line - then we'll be a winner!!!
