reminds me of the story in the onion about australia getting tired of being ignored by the rest of the world, getting drunk and ploughing through the panama canal, and waking up in the middle of the atlanticLOL

Go up Tikiedraai toward Durbanvile from Bothasig circle. Turn left onto Contermanskloof Road' date=' past the quarry on your right and on the first sharp left hander turn right onto the tar road to the farm. Farm is approx 1km up the side road on the left. Trails officially open next weekend I think.

Permit is R25.00 and season tickets will be available shortly. There is also a dam at the finish area that you are allowed to swim in, which is awesome in this heat.

Bung this in Google Earth for a better idea.
33?48'10.03"S 18?34'59.99"E[/quote']Thanks for info.  ST looks great, too.  How technical is the trail?  and length of trail? Do-able for fairly average mtb?

Trail is very do-able by average and even beginners. There is a green and a black route and even the black route is no problem for the average rider. It's about 15km long depending on the route you choose.

We seem to have hijacked this thread very neatly. https://www.bikehub.co.za/smileys/smiley17.gif

Hi Chris, This looks like heaps of fun. How much singletrack is there?

Nice Para. I do so love the Gauteng area and especially Johannesburg. At least we have more than just a mountain and some water to get all excited about.

The thing is the Cape SHOULD be beautiful whereas Johannesburg should not. It can be beautiful, as seen from your photos.

Para, I gotta admit I really miss the smog that you captured perfectly in your first photoSmile. Reckon it's time to pack up and head back.

Hmmm, I did not mean for this to be a "us vs. them" topic. Each place has its own merit.

 You keep telling yourself that...

Nope. Love the place. The trees in Jhb's northern suburbs, the Jacarandas in Pta in November, the cradle, Groenkloof...

(spot the baby giraffe in the bush on the left)
