Iwan Kemp Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Best for what? What wheels are you looking at and for what?
Face Plant Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 xc wheels i cant decide between a set of DT swiss rims or American classic, they both weigh about the same but apparently the American classics are bullet proof!
splat Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 What about hand builts? They can be better (lighter, stronger and cheaper ?) than some factory made wheels.
Hog_ Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I'd go for a custom set, Hope Pro II's with a tubeless rim. Maybe the Mavic 819 or a ZTR Flow.
rad006 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Sorry boys MOVE OVER for Crankbros Cobalts!!!!!
splat Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 you forgot Shimano.they are the best imo R3500.00 for an XT wheelset is hard to beat... https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=64391&KW=
Iwan Kemp Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I'm with Hog, only for XC I will go with ZTR Olympics or 355's at worst.
MTB Kid Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I am biased ZTR Podium MMX at 1,21kg with tubeless tape and valveor ZTR Alpine ( new ) at 1,38kg with tubeless tape and valve
Troi Sport Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Crank Brothers Cobalt or Iodine http://www.bicicletta.co.za/Direct%20sales%20-%20Wheels.htm
splat Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I am biased ZTR Podium MMX at 1' date='21kg with tubeless tape and valveor ZTR Alpine ( new ) at 1,38kg with tubeless tape and valve[/quote'] What hubs and spokes and nipples are used for those builds? Are these new rims or just renamed for 2010? How do they relate to the current ones? ie Olympic or 355 etc.
hipster Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 The new Ritchey WCS carbon or Superlogic carbon.
Christopher Brunsdon Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I vote ALEX - thats all I got and can afford Not going to comment on wheels I yet to try out.
