HAS ANYBODY TRIED RITCHEY MTB PEDALS?

I had the V4 on my Raleigh. The clip in and out and mud clearance was excellent but there were not waterproof. Evey 2nd month they had to be serviced and it was a mission to get the two end nuts to lock against each other.

My personal preferences...MTB: Eggbeater SL's / C's

Don't the Eggbeaters have way too much float?
Thats why I went back to Candy SL's

My only problem with Crank Bro's is that making cleats from brass is probably one of the kakker ideas in component manufacturing, as the dont last, why make a cleat from a soft metal? They are over priced also, when my next set of cleats wear's out I will perhaps get other pedals. R250 a set of cleats that last a year! I walk alot yes, but SPD cleats will out live me.

They do have a lot of float but when you need to unclip in a hurry......... as I occasionally need to do LOL

I know they not the best on the market but my heart stays with Shimano, like the Shimano XTR pedals Big%20smile Fruitloop2009-12-11 05:17:13

Define float. If you are talking about the distance between you are securely clipped in untill you are complete clipped out then no, Eggbeaters and Look Quartz don't have any float. That is called a release angle. Shimano SPDs on the other hand has true float where the release action is not triggered when you move you foot a few degrees. Only after a few degrees the cleat starts opening the clamps/grips/whatever and the release process starts.

I have Time Atac XS and I love them, excellent in all things MTB'ers can moan about, mud, float, ease of clipping in/out. I doubt wether I'll ever ride anything else...

Define float.

My definition is simple - when I'm clipped in I don't want my foot to be able to laterally move around much unless I consciously choose to move it, which will only be to unclip. My SPD pedals achieve this reasonably well, but get clogged up with mud pretty easily.

that little bit of play on your SPDs that you feel before you start unclipping is not present on Eggbeaters or Look Quartz. I would go for the Looks as it has a bigger contact area and are lighter.
