Sorry, did I let the cat out the bag? The one that you told me about in the email. Wink

Aaaah now I remember, that was in the same chain of mail where you told us about you smoking that funny stuffWink

No, you are confused. It wasn't me smoking the funny stuff. Have you checked your iron levels again, they seem to be getting a bit low again and making you confused. LOL

Only two downhills for FO. Down the lido hill which I have prarticed to my hearts delight and the steps which I also have a fair bit of practice on.

Hard-sell all you like tiny bird, SBR this weekend is not happening for me. The closest I will get is going along the western boundary fence as I pass en route towards Henley and Meyerton.

Yes Kid' date=' that obvious though and i'm in the same boat, not going anywhere near that place in the wet especially after sunday's wet fall.

Andy if i had the strength for that i would but right now sorry man i'll have to pass, maybe in a few years time[/quote']

Aaah, if you were going to ride that with me I would've joined you at SBR! Tongue

Imagine going down those hills in the wet' date=' no thanks.[/quote']

Nevermind that, I'm more worried about being on the highest point in the Witwatersrand when the lightning starts Shocked.

smiley36.gif Nothing wrong with my iron levels... All within the normal ranges again.. was even able to avg my highest ever nonstop speed on the MTB (and this after christmas nogals.... under trained, and over fed!) smiley2.gif

Did the short loop down south last Sat, and maintained a reasonable pace without any perceived fatigue. Veins showing blue again.... naah I'm alright... can take the HR right up to 174 (just more than my 'tested' threshold) without feeling like I'm going to die.

I do want to ride SBR. But there are a few influencing factors, in order of ascending importance (you see, I even climb in my posts LOL):

5. I need to do SBR loop non-stop at a reasonable pace and being a group ride it is somewhat limitting.

4. I need to do some quality base training.

3. I need to do some quality speed work.

2. My need for flatter terrain in preparation for the Fast One.

1. My need for substantial distance at the moment outweighs the increase of distance by riding too and from the circus.

But I thought the FastOne was not at all important to you?

Cat-i - With the present attendance list there can be no ride' date=' only a race! If I attended it would be even more of a race!
[/quote']

cat-i, it is only a  race if you race... some people just want to ride faster than others... You dusting off the road bike for this?

agteros - that will depend on what weatherman says. roadie-bikes aren't made for rain. mountainbikes, on the other hand ...

Andy from experience, roadie bikes definitely not made for rain, rain is precisely why i'm full of roasties and have a sore shoulder.

Kieran sorry bud, need to do long ride b4 Fast 1, also need to test the new deraler hanger

Humming Bird, from experience, some of my best races have been in the pouring rain! Maybe it is just Bianchi's that are not made for the rain? Get Kid you buy you a Specialized or Trek!

I'll be riding SBR on Saturday if anyone is keen to join me.

Probably start about 7:15am from Protea Hotel parking and will ride a ~2h15 60km loop. Easy on the flats and "firm" on the upills...
