Doing some wishful shoping tonight and forgot that Take2 orders from Amazon direct. On my wish list of goodies is "

Park Tool Rescue Tool MTB 3"

Check this out:

Take2: R259 (inclusive)

CRC: R268 (ex VAT)

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=3889

Take2 delivery is also about R45.

Sure its up to a 3 week wait but for guys like me that only want to order a single item every month its a bonus.

It looks like the online US and UK sections have an automated system that works out prices, shipping etc. A 661 shoulder brace goes for just under R1000, where Full Throttle has them for R350.

The site looks a lot like the gift store where Agteros buys his biicycle spares!!!!!!!!!

Some of the stuff at take 2 is bloody expensive.

Yes, I did see some prices completely out of wack. Not everything is cheaper than CRC (or a Gauteng LBS) but if you know your prices then you will not do yourself in.

I did see a few other items that I want for my son that I just cannot get localy at an acceptable price. An example is a Pixar Cars helmet for him. Take2 is R250 with knee pads. Cheapest quality helmet from a LBS is post R400.

Some of the prices on Take2 are completely nuts' date=' e.g. they list a Garmin 305 for R13k!!!!

Not sure if I trust a site that does weird stuff like that.

There're three sections to Take2. There's the normal Take2 site which is pretty much like Kalahari.net. Then there're the More UK and More USA sections. These to are basically an import service from Amazon UK and Amazon.com that is run by Take2. The crazy prices probably come from currency conversion, shipping and markup (though the Edges I found were around 4k).

Seems the import section is trying to muscle into Have2Have and WantItAll's turfs, and they two have stupid prices, cos often, i buy things directly from the US and it sure as hell dont come to the prices they often try to extort from less internet-savvy victims.
