This might sound stupid but I indicate when I am going past a turnoff. That way the motorist know what to expect.

So do I, but at this occasion I neglected to do so, and almost paid the price.

Yes, we know cyclists make *** on the road sometimes. but thats not what this thread is about, so please dont turn it into a "cyclists deserve what they get because some of them cycle over red robots"

This thread is about holiday makers driving like spanners

Used to be a runner before I joined the cycling community.

From my car, I then always noticed runners. Nothing much more. Nevva really noticed cyclists or motorcyclists. Never mind considering cyclists!

Now, being a cyclist, I notice cyclists.

Must be some 'frame of reference' kinda thing.

I think for the motorist.

And is always prepared for some ignorant driving.

Cannot always avoid an incident though.

The law states clearly you MUST ride on the right hand side of the yellow lane and a car must give you a gap of 1.5m when passing.............

No, it is about drivers in general not noticing cyclists.

Thought capies were chilled people?  Seems like you see a GP number plate and your blood is boiling for 2 days...

Keep them in the Cape ... had a prick in his Honda (XRR545GP) nearly take me near Parkhurst on Friday afternoon. TWICE... first time he veered left on a straight road and then decides to turn right at the Jolly Roger at the exact same time I do! @$$@*

Seems to be an increasing number of toss plates that don't understand the concept of indicators! They're there to indicate a change of direction BEFOREHAND not DURING!

its got nothing to do with the number plate. its got to do with the jerk off driving the number plate.

the one who ended up with a cytomax seat almost took out a motorcyclist 200m before he almost took me out

This is definetly true, as being a triathlete i both run and cycle on our public roads. Plus i have a motorcycle as my mode of transport to and from school and the gym.

I have definetly noticed that cars are the most Ignorant dumb braindead scum bags on the road (the lazy ones who do nothing with their lives besides have McD's and try kill the athletes in there area).

My tip to all is drive/ride/run as if you know they can't see you. Rather stop and wait than T - Bone a car cause he doesn't indicate, drives over an island and still doesn't see you. You'll come out second best unfortunately!

SERIOUSLY guys / and girls. Ja I know the people drive like total tools nowadays BUT..............

IT WAS THE LAST DAY OF HOLIDAY - so cycling on beach road strand is just plain stupid. We must use our own common sense as well - busy days = stay off the road. Rather wake up earlier and start your ride - finish 10ish before people go to the beach etc.

Its like going for a ride 17:00 on a Monday (or weekday) in Rondebosch, or Paarl main road etc. Its a obvious time for lots of traffic - the more traffic the more bad drivers thus more change of something not going well.

People were driving like TOTAL spanners yesterday. I had 3 of those incidents in beach road alone yesterday morning. A howtenger ended up with a faceful of cytomax and a wet carseat.

Same scenario - drivers turned into me without indicating

I hope you CHARGED them for the (CYTOMAX), it is not cheap.LOL
