I'm not so fussed about the termnilogy' date=' it's more a case of some really bad spelling errors - but clearly correct terminology is also an issue here.[/quote']

Nitpicking aside, I agree wholeheartedly. Lots of counter-arguments exist stating that "this is not a job" or "I'm not writing a technical paper", etc, etc. The problem though, is that the more people use bad spelling and grammar in forums and chatrooms, the more it creeps into everyday life.

That becomes painfully evident and quite unacceptable when the support technician where I work raised a problem report, which gets emailed to the company's whole management structure, and it read something like "Usrs couldnt vw there documents as their wos a n/work prob". When confronted with this shoddy report, the technician in question quite honestly couldn't see anything wrong with it.

So, you might think that you can blabber on with your bad writing in a forum, because ... well, it's only a forum. However, if you spend a great deal of time reading and writing badly in a forum, you're going to start thinking that's the acceptable way to do it. Yes, I might be able to read and normally understand what you're trying to say, but it doesn't mean that it's acceptable, or even easy to understand.

Then again, maybe I'm just getting as old and crotchety as the old and crotchety folks I myself complain about ... nah, that's not it ;-)

BRILLIANT!

I can also get a bit uptight with the spelling thing, but then I realise that I am not Jagwil and that is his job.

Priceless yesterday was when I called him on his spelling in his signature - gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling right where I wanted one.

I think misspelling words can be fun sometimes and give a different meaning to whats intended.
