I couldnt find a single Heineken on Saturday..
You mean heiniGen Wink    Heard on the radio, the liquorstore closed their doors and only let in 10 per time because of the theft of alchohol.

So the party was just like any other weekend in the townships. Too little food and way too much booze.

Dude' date=' you must see what Zoo lake looks like after the Jazz festivals they have there.[/quote'] Same old story with the waterfront and parks here.  The sad part is there is dustbins everywhere, but the empty bottles and stuff gets dumped next to it.   Walked behind a visitor from kimberley a while back, walking to his car, throwing his empty cooldrink can infront of his car on the lawn next to our main road, before the mall.  Asked him if I can and then threw the empty can in the dustbin 10 meters further.  Angry

just received a email from a hubber  Luarie which i think is apt for this discussion

Friday morning I bumped into Brett Sachs on Summit road and I proceeded

with him to the Engen Garage in Main St Brynston. I did not continue

with Brett as he was riding long. From there I proceeded alone down Main

Rd on my way to join a friend who resides in Magaliesig and from there

we were on our way to B/ Acres to ride the Cradle loop with friends and

club members.

It was still dark at around 05H00am when we arrived at the Engen and I

said good bye to Brett, I cycled down Main over Sloan St. My speed was

around 45 to 50km/h as I approached the bridge that crosses the Free

Way, next to the MTN Bike Park on the right  at aprox 05h10/05h15am, a

black man casually walked into the road on the other side of the bridge.

His Legs were spread and I noticed he was pointing a firearm at me. As I

moved right, so did he and as I went left he proceeded in the same

direction. I could not stop and turn around quickly enough. Now I was

confronted with another two black men blocking  the left lane and the

area between the yellow line and pavement. At this point he started

screaming for me to stop and  get off my bike. I now  panicked and

grabbed my brakes locking up my rear wheel and my bike started to slide

sideways and to the left,  as I let the brakes go the bike accelerated

to the right and  I managed to just  get the bike  past the guy pointing

the gun at me. He lunged at me  to push me off my bike with one hand and

as I looked left I saw a bright flash followed by sparks and then a loud

bang. I honestly thought I was shot and jumped on the peddles as my life

depended on them, a few seconds later a second shot rang out. I did not

look back and literally rode for my life. My Polar download records me

hitting over 65km/h in my sprint away.

Reflecting on the incident, these black men were all dressed in similar

pants and tops that the ANC youth league wears.  Light brown tops and

brown pants, the top resembles more of a jacket type shirt. The Gun

looked like a P88 police issue. That's how close it was. I have a fair

knowledge of weapons and have a reasonable idea. They were so arrogant.

The gent holding the firearm was a well built large fellow. with a

crazed mad look on his face.

I have a friend who I was meeting in Magalisig, I stopped at his house

and  immediately checked if I was shot. We then phoned the emergency

services who transferred our call to Douglasdale police station. It must

have taken me 5 minutes to explain to the policeman where Main St was.

He then proceeded to tell me that it was not their problem and  I must

phone Randburg or Sandton. I explained that this had just happened and

if they  acted quickly they could catch these guys, forget it they were

just not interested. On requesting if they could notify Sandton police,

the same answer" It's not their problem "I must!

When I arrived home that evening on close inspection of my bike we

noticed I had juice down the side of my frame and my  bottle was half

empty, one of the bullets had made its way  through the top section of

my water bottle.

Terry I am genuinely just  so  grateful as it could have had such a

different outcome. My prayers are now up to date, just as you  are

feeling that  the man upstairs is dealing you some bad cards...you

realise that you have just become the  luckiest man on earth.
