HAs anyone watched Off Road To Athens? the one race they do its starts sunny and a storm rolls in during the men's race, of 130 odd starters 30 finished!

That was the year he won the Giro right ?

 

yup, 1988. he attacked everyone on the atrocious conditions on the gavia pass. i remember him saying that his team didn't have good enough winter gear and they had to do some shopping before the stage.
