99'r : Ladies, Ladies,...ladies

Even amongst the funriders there are some fragile ego men : they will rather kill themselves than having a fat chick on a so-and-so bike beat them.

But then you also get the wheelsuckers that are very happy to let the stronger females do all the work -NOT taking a turn infront.

This is starting to bug me now......major....and let it be noted that I DO NOT ride elite ladies categories!

What do they want to achieve??? I wonder....maybe it's the ultimate thing that athletes want - Olympics' date=' Worlds or at least some overseas races. Maybe not. Maybe it's to see you all big men that race licenced categories moan about them!

So how do you become good enough for those? How do you qualify for those? Do they say "stuff you!" to their sponsor and go ride a race on their own just to proove to all of you that they are good enough? How do they earn their money? By racing and winning races. I cannot get the logic behind all this moaning. Maybe you should all club in and organise a ladies only race!

How did Kevin Evans achieve the amazing results he did overseas last year? Besides the training of numerous hours a day he was given the opportunity to RACE

the distances they do overseas and improve.

So organisers must provide the girls with their own bunch and you must stop moaning how you catch them and how your races are interfered with because of them and bla bla bla. It's bordering on pathetic now...

Don't mind the moaning men, Bored Girl.  You know men have fragile egos and don't like to be beaten by women.  Wink

Edit:  Sorry - was typing faster than I was thinking!

I'm not averse to the odd hiding, as long as it's consensual.

I know what you mean.....last year at Kremetart after getting dropped by the ladies, I worked my @ss off....then 5km from the end some little bunch caught us, full of old f@rts and then they had the nerve to sprint me in the last 100m after another guy and I had pulled them to the end....pathetic....

No, in the sprint for first in that particular bunch.  What is it about you wannabe pros that think that funriders shouldn't sprint at the end of a funride?  Where's the fun in sedately riding up to the line after a good ride?

Please change your name, you're embarrassing your university.

?

I don't care for what place. The people at the back usually ride/race for time and not positions. I am no body's team mate and especially no one's work horse. You want to get to the line faster, you come and sweat on the front!

This thread was all about the ladies and how they sit and do no work. But apparently if you're a guy that's ok???

Every second day there's some guy on the hub asking for a cycling girlfriend. Now if a girl reads the threads and is a bit more sensitive she won't come near you, the way you trash the ladies here. I have plenty of male cycling friends and I am definitely not sensitive but reading this thread.....well...I think I've expressed my views already.

Hope this is ON SUBJECT enough: a lady fell her arse off in front of me in the starting pack this weekend...I was not responsible for the fall but kinda wanted to stop..but if I had to stop everytime someone fell, flip I'd literally never finish a race. In this case the fall would not have happened if the lady did not start up front with fairly fast men, because she got flustered in the tight pack in thick sand and pulled the front brake...

I really think Babbas Lodge should have separate starting packs like at Barberton...

I agree with Bored Girl - stop trashing the ladies here. And people can race for 2999 th place if they want to - we're all taking part because "way back 1936 in Sicily" Smile it was fun riding and racing with bikes...and it should still be so today!

I started the post to point out my annoyance with the so-called "more experienced and fitter ladies"

I feel the ladies and other closely involved parties shoudl market their participance in a much bigger way so that lady numbers can grow faster and bigger to justify having their own seperate starting groups.

Well, I dont know that "ladies" should have their own starting groups, I just think your average speed over previous races should determine which group you start in...for those who are not first timers anyway. If you are a first timer, one of the slower groups would surely be a good place to start.

Some ppl will NEVER get it - the ladies race for the win NOT for time.

Take 94.7 - 3 ladies in a 80k break away...

Man what a SLOW time!!

Refering to licensed females(mostly sponsored) racing for money and points and titles etc etc here - not the majority of less competitive ladies.

Otherwise you have a valid point

Whether they are racing to win or not does not change their average racing speed, which means they can race for the win in a group with similar speed....

We're discussing the Womens League group, not a funrider bunch. Competitive female riders pay a league entry fee and ride in this bunch. Others ride funrider groups. And the bunch you ride / team tactics etc *absolutely* determines your average speed.
