But then again, it is a prototype. Mudsimus Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 They should loose the ultegra look a like big chainring. Its not pretty. But I think its still a long way from production and we might see quite a few changes.

Looks like an about face for Shimano, up to now they have said that carbon cranks had worse stiffness to weight ratios compared to aluminium. Obviously they just need to be designed better!

Christie Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Before the last Dura Ace (7800) gruppo, Shimano road parts always had a very industrial sort of look, very little style. They were good, but not pretty. The 7800 crank was their first truly beautiful component. Jumping on the carbon bandwagon is necesary for them because that is what the market wants, I hope they refine the look.I also like the look of the new XTR, very stylish.
