Cry

So my new Edge 705 arrived this week from Avnic after I refused to take another Edge 305 (I had three - they all packed up). All seemed perfect until my ride this afternoon. It did not register any ascent or descent although elevation seemed to be working fine!

I read about this problem somewhere on on the Hub but can't seem to find it now. Please help before I have to phone the Avnic tech desk!!!AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

This happened to a mate of mine. On some rides it would also register ascent as descent and vice versa, so e.g. mine would have 100m of climbing and his -100m.

I'm afraid to say he took it back to Avnic and they swapped it out for him...

Yesterday mine was fine on a 850m ascent. Today, on my usual Sunday ride, it measured 0m Ascent and Descent??ShockedShocked

got this off the rainmaker review of the 500 worth checking those holes are not blocked

Little holes seem fine, but I don't want to poke around and cause damage!!

Perhaps upgrading the unit to the latest version of software might help.

Standard response from Avnic for any know issue, even hardware related!

Do you work for Avnic?

Already have the latest version, reinstalled it to be safe, will only know if it worked when I go for a ride again.....

Ironically the latest firmware (3.10) is whacked out on elevation (and as a result gradient) for me. But it does keep asc/desc values - I don't check it on the unit itself though - will do that whenever I'm allowed back on a bike.

A lot of people actually went back to the previous version (2.90) firmware because of this elevation issues. Hoping for a new version to fix this myself.

Jeepers that Edge 500 looks nice. I'm thinking of getting one - any reviews or comments? (slight hijack, sorry, but this thread seems a bit smiley11.gif anyway).
