even in the grand tours and one-day races' date=' it's kinda overlooked a bit?[/quote']

Thanx HR. I am getting crucified today smiley5.gif I remember one of my good friends getting a earfull last year because he did it in licensed ride and was DQ'ed. I will stay away from the Rant 'n Rave section in future, you need hair on your teeth to put a post in here smiley18.gif smiley18.gif

Yes' date=' and a lot of other things get overlooked as well - exactly why cycling will never come clean.

Why was Hoffman disqualified at a recent 94.7? The argument was his teammates were suppose to pace him back.

What if my stem breaks?
What if my chain breaks?
..or a cable, or anything??

Some people prepares better than others but we also know life is not fair. To illustrate:

Last year I took part in two high profile races where in both races the chain of one of my opponent's bike came off - in both cases we were starting to climb. So  he lost some valuable ground but was motorpaced back in both instances. I say either he does'nt know how to change gears properly or his gears are'nt tuned correctly. So he needs to prepare better - the bike and/or his gearchanging ability.

A hard and fast rule need to be APPLIED (it's already in place)

So, I say, it shouldn't be allowed to be motorpaced back and neither should team managers be allowed to operate who condone acts like that.

i can understand what you mean, but it's like riders holding onto a bottle for just that tiny bit too long, or getting maintenance onthe run. the comms and officials obviously keep an eye on it if the rider is pulling the p!ss out of it. if the others believe it's too much, then protest.

101% is one of the strongest vets around and he was not dropped because he was not strong enough but because he got a flat....if i was strong enough to win SA's i would want to have beaten the best and would not have a problem with him getting a little help from the car.

What failure constitutes that you may be motor paced back to the bunch?

Holy as you put it in the one day classics and tours it is overlooked - HOWEVER the rider is normally still in the motorcade when motor pacing happens. Should the rider be out the back of the bunch and motorcade his team mates drop back and the chase begins, once back in the motorcade then motor pacing is inevitable as the cars are not able to get out the way.

I can certainly see a difference between a mechanical failure and an ability one - however we had a mechanical on Sunday and were certainly not allowed to tuck in behind the motorcycle to pace back up to our bunch - is this simply a case of the marshals and us not knowing the rules or just a case of bad luck in a race?

as long as a rider is in the convoy....so, create a convoy around the rider....david george had two wheel-changes on friday, and both times he managed to keep to the convoy, sort of....(how to create that convoy, when the actual convoy has passed, that is complicated)

Phone all the managers and tell them there is a bus full of naked chicks asking for directions.....they usually drop back...

(Only works the first 3 times.....and if it is a race in the Cape, the first 5 times.  Big%20smile)
