Barloworld

Not to sound like a pessimistic South African but over the last 2 days I have noticed that when the pressure is really on I see the bulk of Barloworlds team members at the back of the bunch.

Is there a possibility that these guys are just out of their league? I find it a little concerning that they are looking as if they are already struggling and only 2 days into the tour. Or maybe there is method to the madness as the back of the pack tends to receive as much TV time as the front of the pack.

Any thoughts on this?

Well done to Robbie on a fantastic 4th today - I really hope he can pull out a win this year.

He would not have been able to ride a fourth place in a sprint if his team was not supporting him. The sprint stages are all about tacticts.

Not sure about that, he was on Zabels wheel today and yesterday Degano was stuck on the otherside of the road.

To add to this I think Hunter managed his 4th today out of pure ability and not via team support.

Team support is what Boonen gets.

MuXmAn.I hope it's not the case.Maybe they want to wait until everything settles down and they get use to the tour and it's demands.Hopefully we will start to see some of them in the 2nd and 3rd week.

I just can't understand that not one of them seem to have the legs to stay close to robbie in the final stages.

You must have been watching a different race then ... Hunter positioned himself within the lines of the bigger teams - he had no support from any Barloworld team-mates. I hope that his performance over the past two days does something to energise them. I read that his manager stated that RH would do better to get into a break away than try to sprint against the likes of McEwan. Hope he has a re-think now and gets the team behind him!

True they are not doing that gr8 but hunter is doing very well and hopefully the will help in the pace making tomorrow and that robbie will get a proper lead out of one of his team mates

Hunter is riding smart. He's doing a "McEwen" and using the other teams to lead him out. Why waste your team's energy whe  you can use another's lead out.

I don't think Barloworld could or want to be up at the front every day fighting Quick Step, T-Mobile, Lotto etc. to create a leadout train.

Rather save the riders to get stage wins / placing when possible.

Zabel clearly lost Boonen's wheel and that created the gap for the two Quickstep guys and cost Robbie H the chance of keeping their wheel.  Still thought Robbie did really well.  Barloworld are saving themselves and Robbie H is sitting pretty in the bunch.  I think it suits his aggressive riding style and he sat brilliantly on Zabel's wheel.

Don't be too harsh on Barloworld, the guys did not really have the best build up to the TdF and are hopefully, finding their legs and maybe riding into some form.  I still think they had enough PR today from Robbie's 4th.
