Why doesn't people reveal their identity? Are they scared that someone is going to...I dont know, report them or something? Please say something about you in your profile. If you know you are going to bad mouth someone, have the audacity to reveal who you are. Agree or disagree, that is the question...?

Dudette, there are some nasty people out there, stalkers and things. You can never be to careful. Anything personal you want to know, just send a pm. Then, depending on the reply you get, you can make up your mind about the poster. Smile

See you changed your profile hey! M&M was cute though.LOLWink

But jip, agreed...i like to know who i'm talking toSmile. Some people don't reveal who they are in their profiles because of various reasons...personal choice, but when you ask them they'll tell you.Thumbs%20Up

But on the flipside, even without their real names you get to know some people quite well sometimes....know exactly what they look like, greet them at races and joke around endlessly and for the life of me i sometimes can't recall their real names without some serious thinking!

I agree 100% I have no problem letting people know who I am through the pm system. That way you are in control and can screen who you answer too

There is something nice in conversing with someone not knowing their every detail and not judging their contribution just because they are female/old/young/a pro/newbie.  Your web persona gives you a chance to express yourself and getting praised/hammered/ignored based on what you say not on who you are.

Believe me, if someone wanted to know who I am they can easily trawl through my posts and figure it out quickly, which sometimes is part of the fun (and some people have).  Keep your ID to yourself if you feel like it, it's your choice!!!

All my friends know me by my Hub nick and even my cycling shirt has my nickname printed on the back.

I once Googled myself and to my dismay discovered that there's a porn star with the same name.  Imagine if all the Hubbers judged me by the search results instead of getting to know the real me.

It is always nice to have the choice to write under a pseudonym.  There is no reason why people should be compelled to reveal their real-world identity on a public forum.  You should be able to judge a person by the persona they have in the online community, then, for a change, it will be about what people say and what they stand for rather than who they know.  Also great that the identity that people had on this community spawned a real world cycling club with what I understand is a great vibe.
