Blackadder Posted March 27, 2012 Share I have an 2011 Giant Trance X.2. With stock-standard parts, but including Shimano XTR pedals, a very light water bottle holder, and a speed/cadence sensor (few grams max), it weighs in at 13.26kg.
nickelass Posted March 28, 2012 Share have a 2008 anthem, with xt groupset, and mainly kcnc whereever able,no waterbottle holders, under 12kgs,saved weight on seatpost, seat, wheels handlebars, like as this post mentions, you can get obsessive about cutting weight,to the cost of performance, comfort, and breakdowns. TheV Posted March 28, 2012 Share My Merida 96 is 9.9kg and it's still not reasonable (not to me) But seriously, reasonable depends on many variables: rider weight, type of riding, competitiveness, bank account. I would think that close to 12kgs is reasonble for a fairly competitive rider. I think you are being "dishonest" with us and yourself..... maybe without tires? Maybe u used the trick i use on international flight check-in.... u just touch/lift the scale on the bottom corner with your big toe.... D Vader Posted March 28, 2012 Share I think most guys believe lighter is weaker and heavier is stronger, way too general. The forces exerted on a heavier bike ( even with a light rider) are in many instances greater than on a light bike. It is very important to understand where and how the weight is carried and where and how stresses are transferred to the bikes under which riding conditions.Be specific if possible. Cav' Posted March 28, 2012 Share I weigh 90kg and my full suss 12.9kg... Even if the bike was 9kg it still had to carry my heavy body. Or i'll shave 5kg of my ass....

TwiggzSA Posted March 28, 2012 Share What would a reasonable body weight to bike weight ratio be? I was told that 5kg on the rider equals 1kg on the bike. So losing 5kg is like getting a bike that's 1kg lighter. What do you guys think?

Although the ratio varies wildly according to your own weight. Some of us are 100kg and ride 10kg bikes, and some of us are 100kg and ride 25kg bikes...
