need to insure my bike now that im not riding a entry level anymore and would have to sell a kidney to replace it.

who is better has anyone had any experience with these companies?

cycle-sure:

they have a great package where they coer your bike for;

THEFT: while at home, in transit, while riding.

DAMAGE: to bike or components while riding, transit, home. (nice cause i ride a cabon and you never know)

MI-WAY bike insurance.

dont know yet what they offer.

has anyone had use any of they facilaties.

cause as with all insurance its all and well when they tell you this and that anything you wanna hear to get you to sign the papers. but then when you break something they bring out some funny clause in the fine print that says something like the bike is not cover for damages caused while the bike is move or comes in contact with a hard object. Sorry just not i bigg fan of insurance companies been #@$% over to many time.

if anyone can help me as i'm an idiot when it comes to these sort of things i would be great.

or if you have any other suggestions.

looking for the best cover for my RANDS.

personally i'd never consider miway. for anything. i am with cyclesure and i've never had a problem with cycle stuff or car stuff. the only issue ever was after a home burglary (when the assessor decided to smoke his socks and claim that i somehow, in less than 10 minutes and without using my access card to get myself or my car out of an access controlled office, warped myself from braamfontien to randburg to "stage" the burglary and got back to my meeting before the 15 minute recess was over... called Fred and my claim was settled the next day) so i'm not about to consider changing from them.

I'm insured with Alex forbes, car bike house etc. Will never chnage. If you need to claim, no need to do the 3 qoute thinig. You go to your preferred bike shop, got a qoute take it to your claims advisor and bang 2 days later you have your bucks. Couldn't be simpler.

I'm insured with OutSurance's bike insurance.

Also comprehensive like cyclesure.

covers damage while training, damage while racing, damage during transport, theft, and "lost bikes"... (thought that was funny)

My rear hub stopped engaging during a training ride, I phoned them stating I didn't crash or anything, it just stopped working, and I'm not sure if it was covered. They said it was, and sorted me out before the week was done.

Very impressed...

...but the main reason I went with them is cos cyclesure and most bike-specific insurance policies will not cover downhill bikes for anything other than theft.

I just switched over my insurance for house, car/etc to Alexander Forbes specifically because of my bicycle.

They cover everything...and at a VERY good price too (R85 or so a month for a R30 000 bike).

Other places were like in the region of R250, and my (soon to be) previous insurer didn't even want to cover it for the occasional race I do.

Basically Alex Forbes has very similar (the same from what I can tell) to what Cyclesure offers...Except that it's a lot cheaper.

Email Mokhele there for more info on likatem@aforbes.co.za.

Cheers,

Cuan

I'm with these boys, they've given me the best pricing on home, car, superbike and bicycle. No weird excesses on the SuperBike as opposed to Iron Horse. Bicycle is insured as all risk, so they've confirmed it will be covered in races!

Was with CycleSure, know a couple guys with them, i found them pricey but when i did claim R35k for a new bike 7 yrs ago, no fuss, they paid out!

Thing is weigh up what's the bike worth, eg R30k, if your premium is R3k/annum, then it's 10 years before you would've basically paid off your bike? Most replace after about 5? If u crash/break even wheels once, it's almost R5k pay out? Also consider the clothing you wear, shoes, helmet, glasses etc. :)

Think we all hate the necessary evils ;)
