I go for a MTB holiday every year, we tour the Western Cape, stay in B&B places for 2 - 3 days and explore the gravel roads in the area.

After getting lost 2 years ago I got a Garmin 705 and plan the routes.

Been thinking of visiting the Lowveld and doing the same, suggest you get the Tracks for Africa maps, they show the minor gravel roads not normally shown on the Garmaps.

What is nice about this type of holiday is that you mix MTB with normal holiday activities.

been thinking about a getaway where we can do some mtbing. anybody know of a place in the drakensburg or Sabie area that caters for mtbing?

Faceplant...if you are thinking of the 'berg just let me know and I can point you in the right direction. Have some good friends there who will happily take you around and show you some behind the scenes rides. One of them also owns self catering corrages so would be easy to ride from where you are staying. Or camp if you want. PM me for details

Mankele is also very nice.

+1

wanted to spend a day there last year after Sabie, but my bike was totally unridable after the mudfest at Sabie that we gave it a miss. I'll definately stop over here when I do Sabie again.

Transkei, The uphills are intence but the downhills make up for it in a big way.

Do you have any routes in GPS format? Going there at the end of the year, staying in 3 places from just below PSJ down to below hole in the wall. Planning to just wing it on the bike, but some routes would be lekker.

Thanks
