Now I know I am going to get uitgekak. So elite riders shave their legs right? Well do you guys shave your arms aswell? Its been proven shaving your legs does not make you ride faster. its apparently got to do with hygiene if you fall the hairs dont go into the wound and make it "septic". So my thinking is when you fall chances are very high your arm is goingto also be grazed when you hit the deck. Anybody got a answer of why you dont shave your arms?

I think for pro's / elite's its more to do with massage's. they have leg massages every day, and its almost impossible with hairy legs.

Its now just part of cycling culture, and i geuss part of the apparel for the rest of us!!

Yes.

I shave my legs because:

It's less painful to clean road rash (note, not easier: a medic will scrub it clean regardless of hair).

It's less painful removing bandages or tape.

It's easier to put on sunscreen.

It's easier to wash off sunscreen, mud, dirt etc.

It's more pleasant for massages.

It looks good (shows off muscle definition).

All of those reasons (except massage) also apply to arms.
