Another tip: measure your resting heart rate every day. if its more than 10 beats above your average, don't train on that day. It could be you are overtrained (thus more susceptible to getting sick) or your immune system is vulnerable. Often your body just needs rest.

Alergies were mentioned a couple of places...

i also suffer from getting sick often (allergies).

if i sort out my diet and the bugs and alergens in the air causes upper respiratory infection.. and then the writing is on the wall for me.

not fun,

im gonna check out a couple of ideas here ;) good post.

btw.. i also think you are not including enough rest days (original poster).

and could be overtraining.(ive learnt that lesson enough times).

There's no such thing as over training, just under recovery!

Anyway, that,s what they say.I get sick very easily, been sick 3 times this winter, but recovery is very fast, one week and I'm ready to go.

I've got 2 snotty toddlers,that is where the problem lies!I'm 12hr's on a bike,runs 40km.If I don't do these hrs I loose my edge.

So,I take my rest weeks when I'm ill.

But,fact is when you're fit your immune system is down and compromises will have to be made.

cheers

taking vitamins and boosters does help, but it only makes you current immune system stronger... if you want more whiteblood cells, ask your gp for a shot of integram. that gives your body more fighting power. havent been sick all winter.

Not entirely true. Overtraining syndrome is a recognised problem (see 'Cyclist's Training Bible', Joe Friel). It does, however, take a lot of effort to achieve it and can take five to eight weeks to fully recover from it.

There....fixed it.

I had one of these once.....the real deal is Beriglobin injection but it's like 3 times the price. <_<

I can't say that the Intragam helped in any way though......

thanks spinnekop, I was told by my gp that you need to take the volume into account- he gave me two or three units. suppose your body might accept it or not..

Thank goodness...finally someone else who bothered to actually think about that old BS wives tale laugh.gif

Sorry guys, I know I'm in the minority, but trust me it's not always BS. I am anamnestically sensitive to cold air. Winter is no picnic for me.

Thanks for the reply Bikemonster

On Tuesday I swam at Veldskool in some really cold water and got sick and have been sick since!

They still have Veldschool? I thought the new Regime canned it a long time ago? Man today's youth could do with a week of fresh air and outdoor activity at Veldschool...

(Veldschool)Is that a new type of cell phone? for it seems that, sex, drugs and cell phones are the only things youth know :(
