I'm in the market for a nice torque wrench set...

Which one should I get? What are the most common size sockets needed? and what torgue settings should I choose? up to 15Nm or 40Nm??

anyone with some experiences out there?

oh, yes....price range around or below R800-00

I think it is only the cassette that requires 40nm...And was just at my bike shop earlier and heard from them (heard from bunch of other sources) that they just tighten the cassette tight...after all 40nm is a rather serious amount...

It is like taking a 1m long socket wrench and putting a 4kg mass on the end (well...it IS basically that amount).

Or 8kg at 0.5m :)

Aside from that, this one should suffice for all other jobs... (i think)

you can buy the Ritchey torque key, it's a 5nm key with a 4mm bit in it. thats about all yiou really need it for so you dont over tighten carbon stuff. they are about R150 retail

Precise torque is more important at the lower end of the scale (0-10Nm).

That is generally the required torque for fragile bits that you don't want to over/under torque/break.

The BBB wrench is well priced and handles most jobs.

I've just noticed that the BBB only goes up to 24Nm! Looks like they've got the "Mighty Torque Wrench" in stock though, same specs as the BBB

Yup, realise that mate, just thought that someone would know offhand, I'll get hold of them and post the results.

Buycycle also have one but a bit pricey and only goes up to 15Nm.

Thanks guys!!

BBB it will be - seems to be the popular choice...

I'll contact CWC and wait till stock has arrived. (Only ~R40 diff with CRC)
