hi all

dont laugh please, but i found this bike at the local flea market, it has a fixed gear rear wheel from a track bike, wierd??

anyhay, i hate not knowing what make of bike it is. it pretty light and has some semi decent details, the most noticable detail is around the seat-tube. it almost has an exterior sleeve over it!!!it also has slotted rear dropout, hence being able to run it single speed.its has a combination of shimano exige and 200gs parts

can anyone tell me what and whom made a frame like this

thanks

You okes are going overboard with this retro stuff. I don't get it. I don't mean to sound like a **** but it looks like a classic piece of **** to me? ;)

I must agree. A bike that was at best mediocre in its heyday doesn't suddenly become a classic. I am all for retro but lets not confuse old with old school!

Don't want to sell myself as a huge specialist or collector of note but I do own a number of older bikes and I know a thing or two about them. In fact at times I'm shocked to see how little some guys know who may come across as the big connoisseurs. Anyway that’s beside the point. To try and give some assistance re the initial request: From what I can see there is nothing to indicate that you have anything resembling a “classic” whatsoever. That should not stop you from enjoying it for what it is namely: In the eye of the beholder, a nice old converted single/fixed speed bicycle.

hi all, thanks for your comments so far, its nice when you start a topic that justifies a comment. one thing i must say is that i am a down and down bicycle lover, the enjoyment of R100 or R100000 bicycle is not in the bicycle itself but in the rider himself.

So when i see the potential to restore/ fix up something of atleast some classical nature i feel its my duty to try my best to revive it enough for either myself or somebody else to enjoy.

so in other words, a bicycle that still looks and can still be ridden like a bicycle after 30 years is not crap.it just hasnt been looked after.

keep your eyes peeled: this bike will be have some street credit when its finished.
