CARE OF "EYE WITNESS NEWS" As Springboks Bjorn Basson and Chiliboy Ralepelle head home, Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts on Monday said it was highly possible the two players took the medicine containing a banned substance by mistake.

The two were chosen for random drug-testing ahead of the November 6 test match against Ireland and tested positive for the drug methylhexaneamine. Roberts said both players were taking the medication for flu.

He said the stimulant can be found in a number of products such as supplements.

“It can come from a number of sources, it is actually quite a troublesome stimulant, methylhexaneamine, and there are many sources. At this stage we are looking into where it possibly came from,” said Roberts.

Roberts said the stimulant is on the prohibited substance list of the World Doping Agency but it is going to be reclassified as a "specified stimulant" in January.

OK OK...besides chilliboy being k@k....

just how much "stimulant" are we talking about?? I mean...could it not possibly be trace amounts that could really have come from the use of a nasal spray??

I mean, just how much is too much? Do they only test for the presentce of said substances? or the relative amounts as well?

Just how much nasal spray do one need to use to have an advantage over one's opponents?

I'd say - let's look at the dude's pharmacy bill...if he has spend R1000's on nasal spray he is guilty!! If he really only had the sniffles...then what?

So, it boils down to quantity in my opinion...

The excuse of 'It was in my medicine', is lame.

They're professional athletes. It's their job to find out what medicine contains which substance before taking it.
