Hey guys - does anyone know what could be the cause of Nausea on long distance rides ? I ride with GI32 and will eat some peanuts + bananas along the way for 5+ hour rides ... not enough eating perhaps?

Not meaning to be gross but did you actualy get sick / bring up and if so what? The contents or lack of could be an indication of what the problem is.

Sometimes your body does not absorb what you feed it and over time this can lead to nausea, this could be becuase your consuming to much or the mixture is to strong. In this case you might also feel slightly bloated and also see the solution come out again when you bring up.

Conversaly if nothing comes up (that painfull empty stomach vomit effect) it could be because you are not drinking / eating enough. In this case it's usualy wise to remember to start drinking / eating early and not leaving it to late.

32 gi is a great product but everyone reacts different to certain product , i think you are prob de hydrated and maybe it can be either too much or too little suger

Try to ride with Perpetreum on your next long ride, this stuff is also amazing and you can get the packets from discem, if you like ityou can buy the bigger tub and save some bucks

Whats your fitness lever like and how ofen do you ride that long?

32GI is great, but you still need real food to power the engine. You have to use it in conjunction with food at regular intervals - every 45mins - 1hr. The point of 32GI is to not peak you but give you a slow release of energy.

Well I know this topic is a year old, but I'll give my 2c for future reference

The aim of 32GI is to keep your blood sugar levels constant. Eating high GI foods with it (like bananas mentioned) or having other energy boosters/drinks defeats the point of 32GI.

Try eating about 1 hour before a ride, and sip on 32GI until about 30min before your ride. Then take some more 32GI during the rest of your ride. Don't take anything else!

Its should help!

EDIT: When using 32GI, high GI & sugar/caffeine boosters are only useful for that last 30-40 minutes stretch of your ride. Don't take it if you still have 2 hours of ride time left!

Hi Mission Man

There are a few other reasons which can cause nausea, can you tell me what your pre-training meal is, before you ride, and how long before?

Also how much liquid are you consuming per an hour, overhydration is a major cause of nausea, need to check this as well so if you can provide me with stats.

Why peanuts? when you are riding that distance you dont need peanuts to fuel you, only carbs will be needed, protein is used for muscle synthesis and this only takes place after exercise not during, so peanuts should be eliminated. How much banana are you taking in and when?

Let me see if I can assist you here, and get you a balanced and solid feeling while riding from beginning to end.

all the best

just saw your post of last year - I tried 32 Gi briefly last year. made me horribly nauseaous and struggled to get it down. tried it on the road with no success. tried it on my indoor trainer to test different conditions - no success. basically - cant digest that stuff and it just sits in my stomach - Awful stuff.

I use first endurance EFS or High 5 extreme and energy source. TERRIFIC PRODUCTS!!!

32 Gi - good for .... Nothing!!!

Make sure to have a good solid breakfast, MissionMan...

Cause fuelling on the ride may be too late and lead to naarheid.

Then again, I presume you do "front-end- loading"...

You know that you are supposed to mix it with water  and not more than the recommended dosage
