Today I became an anarchist - not sure if thats even a word!

 

I went for a 140km ride - stopped at all the robots etc, but then when riding on the road where there was a yellow line after a few cars hooted and waived at me indicating I should ride in the yellow line - I agreed with them - even though this is completely illegal. But for my own safety and for consideration of fellow road uses I decide it was best - thus I am an anarchist according to some I have further degraded the society we live in by breaking the law! Not sure how the law would help me if hit from behind at 120km/h and I was dead.

 

As I mentioned in previous post I do believe laws should be updated and to what the current situation is on our road - but while they have not well we breaking them. Funny how motorist don't mind if we break the law to help with the flow of traffic by riding in the yellow line - but all hell will break lose if we go through a red robot - which really did not endanger anyone (but by stopping all the time our personnel heath is affected esp if in a rain storms as our "engines" get cold which may result in getting sick - swine flu kills) so I come to the conclusion what ever a cyclist does will be wrong in a motorist eyes - even if the motorist at the time is overtaking on a solid white line with a cell phone in the one ear / hand and doing makeup with the other hand!

 

Been riding for 30 years now on SA road so please don't think I am not a responsible cyclist - years of experience allows myself to judge a situation as to what is best for me without physically injuring anyone! Yup today 5h30 - 30 year on the road - many hour on the road relatively safely.

If its quiet and safe and you're not bothering anyone, then go thru red robots, otherwise dont.

 

The thing about "i hope no christians.......... blah blah blah" is quite pathetic and just one person trying to enforce their views on others thru claiming divine support.

Actually I would think it was a wake-up call to many here. Besides, did I ever claim to be? My point was hipocracy, something that permiates through into any culture or religion and would affect probably 90% of the people on the Hub. Point being, we all moan about others, but then ourselves go and do things we shouldn't. What that plank and splinter saying?

Yes if there's traffic and it'd be unsafe to go through. No if there are absolutely no cars and the light stays red for a while.

 

I'd rather wait at a red light knowing that it's going to change soon as opposed to going through and risking being hit by a car moving through at speed. However, if you get to the light just as it changes and there is no traffic (and if it's a quiet road), then it should be safe to go through. Otherwise just push to get through the green light before it turns red, or slow down and balance (to remain clipped in) until it changes to green.

thing is: robots traffic monitoring only works with cars and heavier, cos of weight.

If there is traffic, dont be a chop. just stop and be a decent, intelligent human being.

If no one, like very earliy in the morning or late at night which is when I often do my road work, then go ahead, but only after you know it's safe to do so. But go ahead, think you a knowitall and cross without engaging brain. The luck will run out.
