Slipstream Sean

Fakes

Bones

Come join me again...

Eish sorry man, as much as I'd love to ride over every hill in the cape peninsula again, I'm leaving to go away on holiday(for a week) that morning. Taking my bike with me tho, have to do a few hill repeat sessions while im there. Going to Grahamstown then Port Alfred. Anyone know of a sharp hill of around 500m-1km in those areas...something like Rhodes memorial?

Enjoy the ride guys!

Watch out for the trucks! That area is mtb-only for me.

NiklasVM's map: http://www.mapmyride...126122155632851

Highest point = the finish - top of Ou Kaaps

Steepest section = top of Maritime Reaction climb : 15 - 20% (doesn't quite make it on to the map)

You see guys...i.e Airbender, fakes and LeTurbo...Bones and I were right. According to this route map you dont do Slangkop, you cut through ocean view, this map could be wrong, because his map is 5km short. Actually while im typing this I'm beginning to think this map is wrong, i cant remember whether we did slangkop or ocean view, my gut feel is actually saying slangkop contrary to my arguement...somebody help pls.

The Cyclelab route description says yes to Kommetjie / Slangkop http://www.cyclelab.com/Uploads/Documents/Cycle%20Lab%20Cape%20Cobra/CycleLabCapeCobra_MoreInfo_20-12-2010.pdf

So, being from Durbanville, I am a lil' confused:

I know Slangkop Rd which heads through Ocean View.

I know the lil pass through Kommetjie which hooks up, I think with Soetwater.

Is the lil' pass called Slangkop?

Is Soetwater the intersection en route to Misty Cliffs?

Southern Suburb regulars, please assist.

And, of course, what is this year's route - passing or not through Kommetjie?

ROUTE DESCRIPTION:The long route heads out along Spaanschemat River Road before cyclists tackle the east side of Ou Kaapse Weg. Turn right along Kommetjie Road to Ocean View, and left into Slangkop Road. Turn left at Soetwater towards Misty Cliffs and pass the entrance to the Cape Point Nature Reserve to return via Simons Town, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay, Boyes Drive and Steenberg Spaanschemat River Road. Note: Route still subject to Traffic approval at time of going to print.

If you stick to the M65, you go in to Kommetjie, up the climb with the lighthouse out to your right. Slangkop road cuts out Kommetjie from the route. ;)

Hi airbender - is this ride monday the 3rd? If so I am in - I think we can even share a lift

Dommisse

DD,

Several dudes from the 1st ride can only make Tue due to club commitments on Sunday.

Hope you can make that too!

Please note that this ride is now Tue, NOT MONDAY.

At the time of decision last night over suppa, there were no takers as yet.

It will not be changed again.

Guys - when's this ride planned for ? I'm thinking of doing a ride tomorrow morning. Thanks

LJ, as the heading says, in a weeks' time...

If you're racing the Cobra, this is a highly recommended training ride.

As you might know, this is a fierce course.
