Used the e-mail contacts given in another thread to try and find out what happened to my order which was placed and paid with BUYCYCLE Wednesday last week, exactly 7 days ago. My email prompted Kevin to phone me and he promised to give me feedback on the reason for the delay.

 

This is the reply that I got tonight, seven days after my order was placed:

 

Hi Dr Pretorious

 

Sorry for the delay with your Order.

We've finished with a 3 day Capestorm stock take & therefor the shipments were delayed & will be shipped tomorrow. -My order was placed a week ago - how does this have anything to do with me??

We're expecting a Continental delivery tomorrow & will ship for delivery early next week.- How can you sell something on your website if you don't have stock??

I've ordered from them a few times and their service has been excellent. I do however know that they don't keep any stock and order from the suppliers directly and it normally ships directly from the suppliers, unless you have multiple orders...

I have ordered from them twice. On both occasions, the process as described on their website with regard e-mail notification and shipment was found wanting. I had to follow up myself on both occasions as their stated timeframes was exceeded, giving the impression that the order was not being processed.

 

Although they try to be helpful, I am not comfortable with the service I received and will not use them again.

Doesnt sound too bad to me and they followed up personally by the boss-guy which was good.

 

I had more trouble with my order to Evans Cycles & I'd still use them again.

 

I think it just happens in the normal run of business.

I requested a quote about 2 weeks ago to have wheelset built - I am still waiting for it, subsequently ordered it from another SA online store which has built and delivered it to me already...some people just don't really want ur business it seems

I can't argue with you on that.

 

And I fully agree they need to let you know if something's up and not expect you to contact them when you're the customer.

I have come across other local on-line shops that don't actually keep stock, they just order as they get orders in off the web site - bit of a con as far as I am concerned because often they care caught without being able to source just in time.

They sent me an e-mail CONFIRMING my order, not saying that the items I ordered were not in stock. The email also stated that I would receive an email confirming my tracking # -which I never received. Furthermore the email said that I should expect my order within 2-5 working days.

 

On the website they say to expect to wait 3-8 days and elsewhere they say 3-10 days.

Not even close to what I'm used to with CWC online. You order, you pay and you get your stuff the next day! This is not "normal run of business". If I ran my business like that, I would be out on the street sooner rather than later......

I agree. Ad to that the following: it once happened that I ordered a few items. I received an e-mail within an hour, stating that one of the items are not in stock, that I shouldnt have been allowed to order it, appologising and offering an immediate refund. I am so impressed by them that I told them to keep the money until my next order. That is service!

 

By the way, the other items landed the next day and I am in Pretoria.
