Geax has TNT technology (Tube No Tube). Works awesome. Seats properly, light enough, yet robust. Try the Geax Saguaro, but look for the red TNT emblem on the tyre.

Just had Maxxis Cross Mark UST Tubeless fitted on Friday to my Giant 29er P-XC2 Rims. Rode the Franschhoek Lions / Porcupine race on Saturday and no issues.

SA is the second biggest user of tubeless in the world, after australia. The rest of the world (specifically europe) don't use UST as much as we do. That is why there is so little 29er UST tyres available.

I recommend the conti protection range if you can't find UST tyres. Second best to the real thing, and also lighter.

Guys, I bought a 29er two days ago. Where can I take it for a tubeless conversion or is it easy enough to do it self?

Piece of tekkie...get some tyres...tubeless ready at least or equivelant(tyres that work well...Geax, Maxxis, Conti or Schwalbe), tape your rim with Stans yellow tape. Fit tyre, add sealant through removable core of valve(Stans...Joes or whatever flavour). Inflate...Shake tyre and let it vertically on a bucket. Repeat for other wheel. Done!

Alot of clips on youtube or stan's site.

The Geax Saguaro's are bulletproof, but is not exactly light. I was planning to use them for the Epic before I decided to try and take some weight of the bike. Got almost 500g when replacing the with Racing Ralphs (the snake skin one). It was also the tyre mostly used at the Epic this year. Got one flat over the whole 781km. Very good tyres. Wont buy anything else again.

PS: stay away for the Maxxi Ikons, just ask 360life.

You can get Kenda Sant 6, Small Block 8, Nevegal and Kozmic Lite Tyres in 29" Tubeless SCT (Sealant Compatable Tyre). Been riding the Slant 6 version for 4 months already and these are AWESOME!

This is an interesting link to what 29"er tires are out there and their weights... not many are available in SA though.

My new Nobby Nic snakeskin + stans tubeless is about 200g lighter than the thin Rocket Ron + Slime filled tube installation on my front wheel.

Busy setting up the rear wheel with a Racing Ralph snakeskin and stans.

The conti Protection versions are useless here in ZA. I tried 3 of them and they all have the same problem with too thin sidewalls and the thread of the sidewalls starting to show and rub through quickly. There are too many rocks here where your tires slide and scratch on. This being the WC, differen in KZA or GP.

I went back to tubeless tires and am super happy with the strong sidewalls.
