FanieFiets Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) Carbon bike with 105 or Alu with Ultegra? Edited February 9, 2011 by FanieFiets
DaLoCo Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Cabon bike with 105 or Alu with Ultegra? Looking to buy a new Cannondale, eh? I would prolly go for the Carbon with 105, as the gruppo is not that much worse than Ultegra
FanieFiets Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) Thnx. My thoughts as well!!! Lets go buy some bike! Edited February 9, 2011 by FanieFiets
AndreZA Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Alu with Ultegra. that alu will be very close to the weight of the carbon.
nuge Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 half the guys are going to kill me here probably, but there's nothing wrong with 105 - i run a full 10speed 105 groupset and it's great, i mean what's half a kg (or something like that) between friends? back to the topic, i reckon most would say that the difference between alu and carbon way outstrips the difference between 105 and ultegra - the verdict being to go with the better frame and lower spec on the premise that one can always upgrade components later (and prob cheaper than vice versa).
FanieFiets Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 I actually have a yes/no coin if this is going to be close :-) Remember that the Alu combo is a fair amount more expensive.

At the Herald expo Coimbra had the new Cannondale Carbon System 6 with 105 for R19 995, or the CAAD Alu 10 with Ultegra for R19 995...hence my assumption.
