Swissvan youre still looking for trouble with all these stunning pics!! Will have to take some photos of your favourite old hunting grounds at Fountains and post them to make you homesick!!

I'll never get decent training in. I'll stop every 2 minutes taking a photograph. But then again Van, you must be use to it by now.

Glad to see diesel is also more expensive then petrol over there.

Why are you glad to see that?

In the countries of the EU (or the 3 I know of) diesel is usually a bit cheaper. but diesel the price is raised more and more and the difference to normal petrol gets lesser and lesser.

Where about are these photos taken - I see a sign saying "Kreuz" -> Kreuzlingen?? Constance?

No hell that would be to far away for me to ride from home,

These pics taken on Sunday doing my second and final prep for 94.7...

Location about 45 km's from home, road along the "Vierwaldstettersee" (Four forest cantons lake) or Lake Lucern as known to us Engleesh tourists - between Brunnen and Gersau.

A really brillant area to cycle around

What Fountain??? Show us the pics Wink

One thing we dont have here in abundance are XC type routes to ride like fountains (not in my corner anyway). Plenty of Long DH's but you have to ride the LONG UPHILL first....Ouch

Wot!? No snow yet....

If we have snow for more than 12 hours we are very lucky here. Heidelberg is Germany's second warmest region and snow usually doesn't stay here long, if it comes at all.

But no, don't start bragging with your snow now! Wink

(I'm so envious!!)

Hey RodTi sorry I did not see your posting untill now...

Yep one of the reasons I posted the pic was to see if anyone got curious, pictures of mountain peaks, lakes and great views gets boring and you need something different.

You are not far wrong, it is one of a few entrances to an old military bunker built into the base of this particular mountain (Mount Rigi). They built them around about the 2WW to defend Switzerland if Germany decided to invade. This particular bunker I believe housed some artillary and could facilitate +/- 150 soldeirs for a month or 2. This particular entrance overlooks Lake Lucerne.

I believe Switzerland is literaly littered with military bunkers kept secret from the world, most of which have been moth balled and not in use as it is pretty expensive to maintain them. Some I believe are kept going as nuclear shelters for civil defense purposes.

Hitler would have got a shock if he tried invade Switzerland, they are probably one of the most well prepared nations around.
