i also get some inaccuracies with the speed, normally under-reads the max. i think the delay between measurements has something to do with it. its lots of fun, but when i start a ride now i feel a bit overboard with all the electronics

mi-coach... check

heartrate monitor... check

cycle comp... check

riding buddy 100m headstart...check

haha! I have noticed the same thing! it's amazing how technology has changed things, in the 80's the had doc martins and a bomber jacket incase they fell :)

Not a bad Idea. I might have spare he could use and we can track him live.

Do we know what the prize is ? Maybe we can help him win something awesome ?

Endomondo is awesome been using it for a month.

I used to use Sporty Pal and this is much better.

I ran a marathon with it and it gives you a reading every km, average speed and obviously distance.

Once you load it onto the website you get all the graphs, which is great feedback.

I would like to get a HR monitor for my Black Berry, does anyone know where I can get one?

I use sports tracker on my nokia 5230, its quite cool and I dont connect to the internet so it doesnt use any airtime :) one problem tho - its giving me a message that my licence expires in 15 day and I must download an updated version. Only problem is that the nokia website says I have it already and wont let me download it again?

Josh, I also use Sports Tracker. If you have problems with it, just uninstall it completely and reload it. The versions these days have a nice Check for Update feature so you can update right then and there.

Use Endomondo (free version) with my BB and it sure is a nice app to play with. Website gives basic info. Polar software MUUUCH better. Great battery life (BB went dead after 290 km on my 308 km Audax ride). Datafile seems quite small. Can do live tracking via the NET, so you love ones can follow where u are, if needed.

Will move to a cheaper Nokia later. Edgar you getting good battery life with the 5230? Also for live tracking, what is the date rate per hr. I suspect Endomondo only gathers data every km, so very few datapoints, thus low data transfer.

I'm getting good battery life on the 5230. It was fine for Barberton Marathon 4hrs, I have not worked out the DATA rate yet as I use it for so much but have not really noticed too much of a change it data usage. I think the data points are fairly low compared to a Garmin or Polar but enough to get the idea. These apps are not really going to replace high end devices yet, but are useful for those that don't have the alternate.

But you are on the internet the whole time you use it.

Mampara i use sportstracker and before i fire up the app i just set my phone to offline, hence then it uses GPS only and does not triangulate using towers. Takes about a minute to find a GPS signal but no data charges :D

I have used it and it is great, only problem is carrying around a big smart phone, it is just not practical.

I bought an armband/pouch from Sportsmans warehouse which works well.

and if you on a mountain bike, when you fall off you will know exactly where you fell, cause your phone will break and signal lost
