A commendable 5th place for Sagan in today's Flanders

He missed a tactical decision and will learn.

Soon to kick azzzz in the Classics.

Peter Sagan was a favourite in today's semi-Classic, De Brabantse Pijl - Fleche Brabanconne.

He crashed out, not seriously injured, and managed to get back on a chase.

Voeckler took a win after breaking away over the final climb.

Another super result for the most consistent rider over the 2012 Spring Classics!

3rd in the well-fought Amstel Race.

I'm impressed and not surprized with the audacious breakaway attempt by Freire. So close!

And Gilbert showing flashes of form.

Nice quote from Sagan on the reality of road racing:

"At the start of the climb there it was still a big group and when Gilbert attacked I didn't think twice," he said. "With hindsight, I should have had more patience but after 250 kilometres your lucidity is what it is. But everything counts as experience for the future: today, I became aware that this is a Classic that I can win."

Basso still fighting for form and will decide to race for the Maglia Rosa based on his performance at the Tour of Romandie...

Commentary today during the Supersport highlights package indicated that all the gas might leak out by the end of the year?

Yeah, I also thought I heard that.

I initially thought I heard wrong, but it seems not, it will be sad to see Liquigas leave the sport, they have proved themselves as very credible sponsors, well financed, well managed and an incredible knack for finding young talent. I didnt hear if they had a new sponsor lined up to take over the team, but at this stage I am assuming not.?

Talented Slovakian’s signing likely to safeguard future of team

Banking on the rider’s huge potential as a means of securing a backer for future seasons, Liquigas Cannondale team manager Roberto Amadio has extended the contract of Peter Sagan.

The Slovakian will, according to Telesport, remain with the team for the next three years. Amadio is however thought to only have the backing of Liquigas until the end of the current season, making it necessary to find a new sponsor.

So basically he was hoping Liquigas would continue in the sport if Sagan is signed and secured.?

A result of tough economical times ? Or are they simply just leaving the sport

Liquigas is a serious company, I dont think the financial side is an issue to them, so maybe just looking for new pastures?.

Of course one never really knows, but if you look at the company who is an international market leader, it would be surprising I think, to hear they were struggling.

Either way I think the sport will be poorer without them.
