Wasn't always. They have had red and blue factory kits before. Maybe it's time for a change...

Hey, Dale:

Francesco Moser has cast a critical eye over Italian cycling at the end of a fourth successive season without a victory in a monument classic, declaring that Vincenzo Nibali is not a champion and bemoaning the scarcity of leaders in the peloton.

Lucky Nibs is leaving leakygassss then, huh?

Squad signs its 23rd rider for next season

Cannondale Pro Cycling signed Michel Koch, a 21-year-old German rider from the LKT-Brandenburg continental team, for the 2013 season. In 2012, the team has been known as Liquigas-Cannondale.

With two wins to his name in 2012 - the team pursuit at the national track championship and the Rund um den Bramscher Berg - plus third place at the German under 23 time trial championship, Koch will beef up the crew of rouleurs in 2013 team. Koch's palmares also includes victory at the junior national time trial championship in 2009.

Following Koch's signing, the Cannondale Pro Cycling now has a squad of 23 riders for 2013: 19 have been confirmed from the current Liquigas-Cannondale team plus the latest arrivals - Alessandro De Marchi, Matthias Krizek and Cameron Wurf.

Vincenzo Nibali will compete in the distinctive green and white Liquigas-Cannondale colours for the last time at today’s Giro dell’Emilia race in Italy, after spending seven years with the team.

Elia Viviani (Liquigas-Cannondale) won the mass sprint of the first stage of the Tour of Beijing, to also take the race lead. He outsprinted Andrew Fenn (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky). The field covered the 117 kilometre course throughout the city in blazing sunshine, as the feared smog disappeared overnight.

Yeah, and Viviani could finally convert a string of 'almost firsts' into a win.

  • 2 weeks later...

Cannondale Pro Cycling has signed Nariyuki Masuda for the 2013 season. The team, whose current title sponsor Liquigas withdraws at the end of this year, announced the signing of the Japanese rider on the eve of Sunday’s Japan Cup in Utsunomiya.

Sunday’s Japan Cup is the team’s final race under the Liquigas banner, and a strong squad has been selected. Ivan Basso made his comeback from doping suspension in 2008 in the Japan Cup, and he leads the line-up alongside Tour de France green jersey Peter Sagan.

Ivan Basso (Liquigas-Cannondale) won the Japan Cup after out-sprinting Dan Martin (Garmin-Sharp) in a spirited race...

“Coming back to Japan four years after my start with Liquigas and winning on their farewarll to cycling is something special, I can’t explain it. We’re all very happy. The warmth of the people was fantastic and today is a festive day for everyone.”
