Modern tours have become as much of a promotional extravaganza as a sporting one, long tv talks, sponsor requirements, etc............I dont know, I just remember 'Berto's words at the last tour he won "some tours are won in the bedroom" - kinda puts the stress management required into perspective.

Yeah, I guess you have a point. That said, the Tour started as a PR/marketing exercise. It was invented to sell newspapers, and ad space in said newspaper, so the burden of promotion has been there from the start.
