  1. Not sure if you get boost in a road hub - OP noted that he got a "road rim" with the trainer. It might be a through-axle and the hole in the hub is "too wide" where the QR goes through. Perhaps the OP can share some pictures of what he has.
  2. Friday's club mail said "P.S B-Spot is open so go forth and enjoy!"
  3. Got this message on some of my groups yesterday - some of you will know Eugene of Cycle-Inn in Burgundy Estate. 4. Maybe have a look at this thread too: https://forum.bikehub.co.za/topic/189457-bikepacking-bike-touring/?tab=comments#comment-3818473
  5. A buddy of mine was mugged and his bike stolen yesterday morning just before 6am on the way to our meetup point. It happened on Giel Basson Dr on the new extension piece behind Burgundy Estate. Perp was walking in the road and pushed him off his bike when he came past. He fought back, but the guy pulled a knife so he let it go. Suspect the bike was in that Du Noon cesspool 10mins later. Be careful and alert out there and give guys walking in the road a wide berth if possible.
  6. Some of the people from our club has also had repairs done at Top Stitch at Glengarry, maybe pop in there and see what they can do for you
  7. It seems that CNTRL + Click on a topic from the main page does not open a new tab, it opens in the same tab. From a discussion page it opens a new tab. Working from Windows 10 and Chrome
  8. I might be wrong, but it appears Makro sells the same set for R129 https://www.makro.co.za/hardware-auto/hand-tools/loose-tools/screwdrivers-and-sets/bosch-27-piece-screwdriver-bit-set-/p/000000000000230207_EA
  9. Some new kicks courtesy of a Takealot sale
  10. Finished a long-ish term project to get my new wheelset built up and ready. Lyne AMP30 rims with Hope PRO4 hubs laced with Rapide spokes. And now the rain has started...
  11. Correct, the new route is like the Tour de PPA - from the racecourse down Tiekedraai, over Contermanskloof and then up Vissershok back to Durbanville and then out from there. It should make things interesting
  12. Are you sure your route is right? The event website shows the route as 97.8km and somewhat different from your strava link
  13. The Paarl Cycle Tour website had an issue yesterday, the IP address would not resolve. Seems that they fixed it sometime today
  14. The Paarl Cycle Tour website is back up again
  15. The 40km route was also different. About 3km and 150m elevation less and skipped the section through the amphitheater that we had last year. Was still lots of fun
  16. 17. What happened to the buffs like we got last year? I was looking forward to getting a 100miler one to go with my 50miler one. Overall a very nice ride, the headwind and rain in the 2nd half made things a bit more interesting, missed my sub-8 by 5mins. Will have to go do it again next year
  18. Bike, helmet, shoes, race number, water bottles, snacks, sense of humour, willingness to suffer. And remember to have fun
  19. This was my 50miler ride last year: https://www.strava.com/activities/1581603027 It is just gravel travel, so no technical sections to speak of and no single track. Fun ride all around and the gees was quite lekker
  20. As far as I understand this weekend's Sportif and Tour de PPA next weekend etc. will count for the 2020 CTCT, not the 2019 one
  21. Some more lion (taken in Addo in March 2018)
  22. Top of Devon Valley via Polkadraai, part of a 60+ cyclists group ride
  23. We had a lekker day in the C-F group. It seemed that most of the group formed one large peloton which stayed together for most of the race. Finished 20mins behind the winner which in my books is a good ride. Mamba hill still stays a nasty surprise for that last 500m. Shout out to the Outriders guys from A-B that started with us and did some long pulls at the front. Saw the two ostriches out in the field with the victims of the crash on the side of the road, strongs to you guys, hope you heal up soon. Yesterday's MTB race was also a lot of fun, well worth making a weekend away and doing both events.
  24. We did the 45km Wild Boar trail on Saturday. All I can say is wow! Wonderful trails, lots of climbing and what goes up must come down Will definitely go back again. The beer afterwards was well worth it Keep up the good work
