  1. All I know is that cadance is the amount of revolutions you do per minute RPM of a car, not the fisical power output. It works like this, the harder you paddle on gear 10 lets say 60 RPM, you will be able to have an easier physical output on your legs if you choose one or two gears up but of course your cadance "RPM" will increase (90 revolutions per minute) to maintain the same speed. It depends an each person and what they are comfortable with. If you like spinning faster and not put so much power in your strokes, thats fine , but if your legs can handle the 11 tooth gear and force your legs to do the hard work, thats also fine. To use a meter that will manage your training compared to your effort you will need a "wattage" power meter that will determine your power output, and this will give you an indication of how much you have left in your tanks after a hard effort. 3. Hi Anton I know of guy's that ride for the pure chance they are getting to compete against the "pro" teams, so if you are talking about starting a team for 16-20 year olds they should do it for "free" if they are serious about things. Pay their kit (two sets) maybe shoes if you feel generous as well as helmets and glasses. The exposure they get from riding in a semi pro team should be enough for those youngsters. You should also included all entry fees and travel cost/ accomodation if needed. If you want more info PM me and I will give you contact number and name of a guy that has a semi pro team in SA and been fairly successfull!
  4. I must say, THANKS a LOT for the marshals on Sunday. They even went so far as to putting milk crates inside one of the pot craters, or was it a spectator. Thanks for giving up your time paid/unpaid to keep us safe.

  6. IF you are saying that you what preferential treatment because you have the money o buy a full racing license then you are surely smoking pot. If I am misunderstanding your statement I apologize. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> If you want to be in a separate group than the "normal" cyclo licensed riders then you will have to do a better qualifying time? Just a thought...

  8. Suikerbos Nature Reserve <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Clint Cosgrave as been actively campaigning with the Parks Board of Suikerbos Nature Reserve in order to try to gain some common ground between cyclists and officials. Recently there have been a few accidents as well as other indiscretions from cyclists which have put parks officials on the verge of banning cyclists from the park. He had a meeting with parks officials recently and over and above a few changes which will be tabled with the Department Of Environmental Affairs, parks officials have asked that with immediate effect can the following simple regulations be adhered to by cyclists. 1. Ride the correct way around the park, do not disobey the one way traffic roads. 2. Do not litter, keep your rubbish in your pockets. 3. When approached by park officials for breaking the rules do not swear at the officials and treat them with disrespect. 4. Do not urinate in plain view of other members of the public. 5. Respect the park as a NATURE RESERVE for that is what it is. It is not a bicycle park. Please ensure that you respect the laws of the Reserve at all times so other cyclists can also enjoy this wonderful training route.
