  1. I'll bet he doesn't get bitched at for walking up a trail to session it 😇
  2. They have done great things, but it does not in any way absolve them from criticism.
  3. Loool...no Tokai MTB doesn't complain....they just ban people from commenting on their b1tching about it if you recall DH1 rebuild for the first LH corner last time. Builders had AMPLE opportunity to clad the corner in the multitude of rocks there...but didn't, then built the radius is such a way as to facilitate cuddying and proceeded to moan about it on SM. Knowing Patrick he's definitely saying said line somewhat tongue in cheek...But again, if you build big flowwy corners with a k@k radius...don't expect people to not have fun. Welcome to being a bike park, that's essentially what Hoogies is trying to be...it's either going to cost you money every year or you have two choices...Build things EXPECTING this (aka. many Canadian trails) o We've been asking for years for slower, more tech trails with less berms...Cheaper to build, cheaper to maintain, better opportunity for up-skilling. Le sigh, the club committee as stated my ppl here and the Morondull thread recently don't give 2 poops about MTB, they're really only interested in gravel grinding so don't expect any of your requests to be taken seriously.
  4. Perfectly safe solo. Of course the usual "if you fall" argument stands. Head through the gate, first left and follow the Irish Climb up to either the top of Irish 7 or 8 and come down Armageddon. You can go to the other wise of the valley and hid Red Phoenix too then Firehut across the valley. Trailforks will show you the exact routes to the last two and all three of those are pretty simple to ride down. Sure if you're trying to gun it it'd be tough, but to just have a rad time out and chill down the trails, no prob.
  5. Dunno off hand but here's a link in one of the first posts above for the brochure which usually has costs. I wanna say 8 or 9k without flights. For 4 days riding (3 "timed" last time ", sll food accommodation, shuttles and snacks. Only excluded drinks.
  6. Dunno about Afriski but you can totally tmdo it on a HT. All natural trails. Nothing is built to "ride". That, to me, is what makes it so special. No single lines, alllll the lines. No gaps or drops unless you spy a line with one and go for it. Real freedom.
  7. Mega is a lot of shuttles too though hey. So not a sh1tload of heavy pedalling. It's more focused on having fun with your mates than making you *** for the sake of it.
  8. i mean you COULD, but jirre that's a LOOONG drive. You could go in via Fouriesburg side of Lesotho and drive across past Afriski and meet them in Mokhotlong though. That road is good and it would probably be faster than driving to Howick and up Sani Pass (which...you couldnt do wothout decent ground clearance). But still...bet on a 2 day drive each way. I suspect flygin would be cheaper noww too
  9. I did the first one in 2017 and HANDS DOWN the best event I have done. I wanted to do it again this year, but timing worked out ***. As for costs...MUCH cheaper than say Kingdom (and IMO more fun vibe...I dont like races at the best of times). Rohan also has an "add-on" option (I think it's still there) where they pick you up at King Shaka airport and provide an additional evening accoms (no food), as well as drive to venu and dropoff back at the airport..It was R1k last time for this and I suspect it'll be more but it was more than worth it. Then it's just flight from CT, which was R2.5k last time. The riding is amazing, you're in big alpine style mountains in the NE of Lesotho, mich higher up than Kingdom around Roma. We were up at ~3300 masl last time and it was amazing. All natural trails (think Megavalanche style). 4 stages a day, 2 timed and 2 mass start The catering and accoms was great as well and accoms are apparently upgraded. Wayne did quite a few vids of the trails back in the early days of RRR too on Youtube if you wanna see stuff. But think 15min descents and 700 to 1050m descending per trail...Take brake pads with
  10. Had the Pro. The rubber thing ont he front goes then you chuck it in the bin. The Topeak is tiny. Are there any analogue ones comparably small WITH small enough head to fit on the valve next to your shock, or fit inside the radius of the valve on your fork? If so that owuld be BETTER IMO (if not rubber gasket thing on the head like the Pro) as no battery etc. Again...accuracy (actual number you read) is not important really, but precision (repeatability) is.
  11. Well if the Blackburn doesn't fit a fork valve then for me, it's essentially useless over the Topeak which will do all of the above easily.
  12. They don't need to be accurate per say over a wide range. Just consistent in their reading. That way you can set all repeatedly.
  13. Odd that it would work for shocks but not forks 🤔
  14. Do they fit on the valve on your shock? My recollection is that the head is a bit too large. Rather have 1 versatile tool. The Topeak fits nicely on most shocks (unless the frame makes life hard) and all air sprung forms and is a great way to properly set your suspension pressure the same no matter what pump you use.
  15. Hey... I'm also there. But in all seriousness... Afik if you enter Sport then you can't qualify for any other category as sport negates the need for a CSA racing licence... And none of us could have been bothered about that. Hence Harry, Toast, Savage, myself etc aren't in the vets. Well how I understood it anyhoo
  16. Not particularly hard to find. Rush brought in a bunch with MaxAss branding in addition to the Topeak and they are doing the rounds. Bought from Stoke in Woodstock last week and they had 2 on shelf and was told there were plenty around.
  17. Topeak. The rest are trash....Unreplacable batteries, parts that wear out, don't fit on your fork and shock to check those presures either, etc.
  18. You're not unfit eough to struggle tooo much
  19. Not very muchj Pretty chilled one dist adn elev this year
  20. The trails from the dam are very much meh...As for GRTP...If you have loads of time, liek OP, then yes worth it. If you just have 3 days...Don't bother leaving Witfontein, you won't rride it all and you will want to ride most of it twice OP, be sure to check Trailforks.
  21. Yeah dude, seriously under valued, but the locals put up a moerse stink when there was talk of increasing fees I hear R350 is peanuts for a year for those trails. They are unbelievably good.
  22. Technically you dont need a permit to ride any of the George/Witfontein trails. GZ pump track you do pay a minimal fee. However, if you really enjoy the trails, I'd look into just buyuing a George Hillbillies annual permit..they're cheap and, IMO, underfunded big time.
  23. He's good just not riding at the mo much ,if at all
