  1. I had a Nabraska (Silverback)...it was AWESOME Dude, tbh, I do not think you can go wrong with Silverback...But they guys at George Cycle n Sports are a bit strange to talk to about bike...esp the owner seems rather unapproachable. Anthony (tall guy) is cool so if you are interested in the Silverback, speak to him... Otherwise head over to Julien or Vickus (hope I spelled that correctly) at Coimbra...they will surely have something good in your price bracket. I know my boss is buying a Merida there soon and it is super well specced for the price, so you may be pleasantly surprised... Nowadays I just go there because I get the best service and advice and they always have stock of things and will get in under a week if they don't Lol...that sounded a lil like a sales pitch
  2. Hey man, thanks However, I am told the Avid compatible for Jagwire currently only means the Juicy range and not Elixir It seems the Goodridge hose is compatible, but might be a mission
  3. Hey man, thanks. Any idea if these are compatible with Avid Elixir? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=2938 Cheers
  4. Howzit guys. Do any of you have any experience with replacing hydraulic hose on Avid Elixir brakes with aftermarket coloured hose? I REALLY wanna get some green hose, but don't know where to 4k to start
  5. Bump bump anyone...?
  6. I just switched over my insurance for house, car/etc to Alexander Forbes specifically because of my bicycle. They cover everything...and at a VERY good price too (R85 or so a month for a R30 000 bike). Other places were like in the region of R250, and my (soon to be) previous insurer didn't even want to cover it for the occasional race I do. Basically Alex Forbes has very similar (the same from what I can tell) to what Cyclesure offers...Except that it's a lot cheaper. Email Mokhele there for more info on likatem@aforbes.co.za. Cheers, Cuan
  7. Anyone else have any comments? Does anyone else even use coloured shifter cables and hydraulic hose? If so, where did you get it and are you happy with it?
  8. Yeah, def will do, but gotta wait for hydraulic hose, grips and cassette to come from CRC as a buddy of mine was ordering from them and I am tagging along on his shipment But fook me hydraulic hose is like R90/m At least the cassette is only like R450, which is way cheaper than here in country...just hold thumbs for customs charges
  9. Yeah Going green with cables and grips. Pedals have some red, cassette (new PG990 when I put it on) has red, fork has red and will get some red KCNC jockey wheels. Think I will change the crank bolts to red/green...depends though cos I don't want my bike looking like a burnt (black) christmas tree (red + green) So gotta be careful
  10. Hey bro, no worries My bike came with Jagwire housings and cables, but they in black and I basically just want the green housing for deraileur's and then the hydraulic housing for brakes... So was just wondering if people have found other alternatives for the ones I mentioned above. And I have been happy with he Jagwire cables thus far, but I can only compare back to whatever my old Silverback Nabraska had on it (I don't even know what cables it had)
  11. Thank you thank you Will be doing that
  12. Howdie Hubbers I am wanting to get new deraileur cables as well as hydraulic hose... As for the derauleir cable kit I was thinking of getting the Jagwire in Merida Green (my bike is black, so green cables would look sweet). Now has anyone used these and are you guys happy with the setup and performance? Can you suggest any other coloured cable kits? Was going to get it here as their price is good... http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/cable-kits/jagwire-en/jagwire-ripcord-derailleur-cable-kit-jagwire.html Anyhoo, as for the new hydraulic hose (I have Avid Elixir brakes) I was going to get a few metres of this stuff in Lime Green to match... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=2938 Can anyone tell me if I can just swap out the hose on the brakes or whether I need to get any other parts as well? Also, similarly...can anyone suggest an alternative coloured hydraulic hose/kit? Thanks guys, appreciated
  13. dcalitz...I think you are onto something there...but even if we need to pay a deposit then that'll be ok as well... I would still be more interested in a bike though... And those prices are about half (roughly) of what the groupset goes for on BuyCycle (and they are usually lank cheap)
  14. geez...meant the bikes...but considering the price i might consider the groupset too ok, should be off for the eve b4 i spend my savings meant to pay for my car keep us posted. nn
  15. if it is real i'd happily go halvies with u
  16. lol...thats exactly what i wanted to say
  17. Meh...looked over the "minimum of 10" part So, we just need another 9 ppl And we get them to ship the bikes in pieces as "BIKE PARTS"...supposedly there is minimal customs duties on parts
  18. Jeez...$4000 NEGOTIABLE for this! http://id109776539.trustpass.alibaba.com/product/109553636-101579890/Cannondale_Flash_Carbon_Ultimate.html
  19. I just sent off an email to get a final price on a Specialized Enduro...just to test the water. Looked up the site ... http://www.alexa.com...s;1/alibaba.com Seems legit for the most part...Suppose you just gotta watch the supplier... So my theory is...even if you get NAILED with import duties you still save a bucketload But...could be a bit of a gamble
  20. fook me! Maybe we should buy 10 and make a tidy profit
  21. Just bought one of these...Fox Flux...VERY happy with it Ventilates well and is rather light (for me anyway) and offers some back of head protection too. The fit is really great and so is the mechanism for fitting it to your head. http://www.buycycle....t-l-xl-fox.html It arrived yesterday...they are usually over R1 000.
  22. Come on guys...TimH is right...when it comes down to it (and it is not a weight issue) you HAVE to go for the prettier one R150 difference over a year or two lifespan if you look after it aint bad CWC has a range of PG990's in diff colours to match everyones colour scheme
  23. Hmmm...in that price range...tis difficult, but I think there are a few good Mongoose bikes in that range. But fork out for any Specialized and u will be HAPPY HAPPY
  24. Guys...best deal out there at the moment... http://www.buycycle.co.za/buygear/helmets/fox-en-2-3-4-5/fox-flux-charcoal-helmet-l-xl-fox.html I just bought one and it's arriving today... They sell for R1000 at Due South (don't know where else to find them). Really good helmet and feels good on your head as well (tried it at Due South before buying). Cheers, Cuan
  25. hehehe...ya that'd be 4king funny Maybe I should just go get a scale...been toying with the idea for a while...just scared to get on it or I might feel need to do K2C more often And I think ONCE was enough...I think I was the only I.D.10.t riding it on a bike with 160mm travel front and rear that can't lock out Hehehehe...but made it interesting. You see the post in the Karoo to Coast topic of the old oomie doing it on a road bike with mtb tyres? Super respect for that!
