  1. I have been proper sick only once in three years... My secret...eat decently and avoid taking antibiotics unless you are going to die...those things mess with your immune system as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and we train Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri and Sat/Sun. Short in the week after work and maybe a bit longer on weekends (if that helps). I definitely find though that I am stronger after a few days off the bike.
  2. kewl guys, thanks, i will fiddle a little
  3. so got my lid today Fits rad and can't wait to test it out on the course...when it dries out a bit Just a question though...how do u guys clean it inside from sweat/etc? It doesn't seem like the lining is removable or anything?
  4. I think it is related to GPS accuracy...any time it measures your position there is an error associates (+- 10 m or so). So even if you are not moving it could "see" you as moving between it reading your position at different intervals. This will make it look like you are moving, but it should figure out after a little while that you are not moving and pause itself. Overall the +-10m accuracy (different receivers have different accuracy, some up to 0.02 m, but you certainly don't want to carry that around on your bike ) won't make any noticeable difference when you are riding.
  5. Only ever ridden the Crank Bro's Mallet 2's...but super stoked with them. Seems the have more play when you are clipped in, which I like. Prior to this I was riding some flat pedals which I still love Actually considering going back to them.. Luckily I haven't come short with the Mallets yet (aside from the standing still and falling over stunt we all do at some point) so I reckon they cool Mallets are gr8 (for me) because they are kinda a flat pedal with the egg beater thing in the middle. More DH style, but I like the feeling anyway. My friends who ride SPD's don't really like the "stiffness", but I am sure you can adjust this with the spring tension...something lacking in Crank Bro's.
  6. lol...Mirror black because they gonna look cool ...but they still come with the clear lens as well, so I can swap out Yeah, tough to find RSA (well for me anyway) suppliers of knee prot...well at least as far as I can tell. If you order from CRC are they classed as "garments" at the 40% duty? What a life man...i'm trolling the interwebs on a sat night...at least you are damaged and have an excuse Busy watching Kranked 5 and 8 and gonna watch rampage 200 again now now before sleepty time for fun ride on the morrow. How the healing coming along Cap?
  7. Cool...so ordered the 661 Evolution New Wave from CWC...http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/661-evolution-new-wave-helmet Got some nice goggles (to match the bike) as well , Thor Enemy X-Ray with mirror black lenses Now just some damn knee/shins...but then again there are already soooo many scars on the shins that I'm wondering if it really matters
  8. Yeah...saw the Evo on CWC... The one on CRC is too big unfortunately...would have liked it in plain black. The head is like 59cm circumference, so I reckon a L is best for me... Going to CT in about 2 weeks, so will look at CWC then i guess.
  9. hehehe...oops...slip of the eye there Yeah, I did see those online You guys reckon that is a good price? I wear a Fox Flux L, so would that mean a L in the FF as well? Think the Flux L is 58cm and bigger.
  10. ye I saw, but 30% import duties on helmets :S So will cost the same as a FF from CWConline...going to CT in like 2 weekends time anyway and GF lives across the road from CWC...So will make a turn there too... Not too sure about the Fox one in my post above...think tis a 2007 model anyway
  11. next we will see a close up of a nipple
  12. Yeah man, we really do take a lot for granted. Yeah, some o my physics profs were way out there in the braniac department back at varisty It was just dodge that the one expected all of us in 3'rd yr to be on his level too! hehehe Physicists are another breed man...awesome people to talk to about anything because they have such a want to understand everything around them
  13. wow dude that is seriously f***ed up man Really sad...both the stories in your post tbh Gratz on helping though! Move to the coast...we are friendlier
  14. 2011 model has pretty 4king good specs for the price I must say... BUT...tis an XC bike Gimme all mountain rather For that price...Specialized Enduro :S
  15. Coimbra George... Alu one with carbon cranks R22 900. Carbon Frame one R29 000 (thin X0 specced).
  16. Gneiss, lemme know how they improve the braking Can't wait to get mine fitted...still waiting for the lever fittings from LBS Everything was supposed to be here Monday
  17. rock...what brakes you running with those Goodridge hoses? I was going to get them for my Elixir's, but then found some Alligator ones locally instead...
  18. Speaking of FF helmets...how you guys rate this one? http://www.buycycle.co.za/buygear/helmets/fox-en-2-3-4-5/fox-rampage-black-helmet-fox.html Good price too?
  19. imho...in my honest/humble opinion
  20. ye...well it currently doesn't have any drop offs...they made the one a roll-in and made the jump after it bigger and the other one they also made a roll in and then made the berm going into the last section a bit bigger too... Hopefully gonna film the thing sometime soon then will post a video of it (but no laughing at me ) ....
  21. Sweet That the big hill behind Tygervalley with the radio/tower thing on top? Yeah...something this course is missing is a few drop offs to be honest...there MUST be more guys riding it cos it is well maintained but I never seem to run into them
  22. Thanks Cap...yeah, I been following your wipe man Sucks big time and glad I have not had one like that on a bike yet!...Well sort of up in Guinea...but thats a long story Yeah, probably a good idea to get a ff sometime... I rode the DH course here (George) the other night in the dark with a light...man that was SUPER fun And I am sure I was going faster...Think it had to do with the fact that the light forces you to focus on the trail more. I would dig to ride this course with some ppl sometime just too see if I really am going as slowly as I think I am. The breaking later thing is awesome I must say...I just need to get better at cornering and shifting body weight around and keeping more on the front wheel cos I fell like I am going to wash out at times scary...but thats probably the main reason i like this riding Anyway, gonna bring the bike to CT on the weekend of 22 Oct and try get a ride in at Tokai or Paarl (gf lives across from Tyger Valley so it's kinda in the middle I guess) ... but haven't seen her in like 2 months so hope I can get a morning off
  23. Ride with my Fox Flux atm...still learnin the DH stuff though But sucks having to ride alone all the time cos you don;t have ppl to push you Meh, tis like sk8ing alone...fun for a bit but u don't progress very fast... You guys seen Follow Me the movie by Shimano? Fooooook me :| www.cyclingtorrents.nl if you have the uncapped interwebs
  24. pretty sad yes... even more sad...I don't have a dh helmet :S
