  1. You must see what I get up to on my 120mm camber. I reckon a 140mm Pike will do just fine on the trails I ride. The gnarliest trail I ride is Iron Monkey at Jonkers, from the very top. I'm actually quite keen to see what this bike can get up to on a proper janky line.
  2. I have a Camber full squish that rides well enough, and to replace it with more of the same makes less sense than getting a rowdy hardtail for those fun days out. Sorry to hear about yours being stolen.
  3. I am seriously considering a build project for this. I did the maths earlier this week and saw that it would cost around R50k give or take with all the bits I prefer. Steep for sure, but to me it would be a bike I want, not a cookie cutter closest to the mark derivative that ends up costing double as much after I'm done upgrading it anyway. The white looks really sexy.
  4. I also thought that tyre looked vrot. How does a new(ish) tyre look like that?
  5. @Dylanmtb My 2 cents. I am a big boy as well pushing the scale to 125kg and beyond on a bad day. I ride a Spez Camber Comp alu 29er. All I've ever broken on that bike was a spoke or three and completely wrecked the rims. How you may ask? Take a look at my avatar pic. That tells you all you need to know. You can safely ride the bikes you're looking at at your weight category despite what the nay-sayers have to say. All you need is to invest in a set of proper wheels, and you're gold. I replaced the stock Rovals my bike came with with a set of Rapide 29-36 32 hole alu beasts and after 2 years of me riding like a proper hooligan on them they are still as true as the day I fit them and not even one spoke said ping yet. Go forth and enjoy!
  6. I also got stopped for riding without a light. Also rode with a torch, and also got told off and let go. The only thing I recall of school in the 80's was the army patrolling around our school in the caspirs carrying R1 rifles and tin roofs on their heads. looking back, those laaities were barely out of school themselves.
  7. give it a month or so. Those gloves of yours will smell like a ripe poo if you don't kill the bacteria left behind by all that sweat. Washing them helps nothing. I have a pair that I have retired now due to that dreaded pong.
  8. Trust me. Here in the Cape we've been getting bliksemed with rain over the course of the last month. I am of the opinion that winter is here. If not, then hou vas jou matras, want HKGK.
  9. Finally! now we can start moving back to summer again. lekker man!
  10. Truth! although, to be fair, sometimes I feel more like a passenger
  11. This is my reality. but then, also only when I am actually caring about the uphill portion of the ride. For the most part, going uphill is an unavoidable evil before the intended going downhill bit can begin. Lately, the uphill bits have involved more instances where the bike is being pushed uphill with me beside it, so locking out the fork wouldn't matter much anyway . . .
  12. Doesn't look like it. And what is left is more sponge cake than trail. I won't be riding there for a while yet. I like my bike too much.
  13. I have 11000km on my Rockshock Revelation and apart from some crash-inflicted scratches on the stanchions they are holding up very well. I don't service them nearly as often as I should and I don't have any issues. I also don't ride them locked out all the time. I will lock them out if I remember to do so, but generally, I just leave them unlocked.
  14. This should go without saying, but history has proven that sometimes, it needs saying.
  15. @Martin PJ All I want to know is if this was a job done by RBC in PE? I'm holding my thumbs that is not the case.
  16. I have a PF30 BB on my bike. It has +11000km and hasn't been changed yet. Perhaps it's time.
  17. I don't have anything to boast about. To boast would imply fitness, which is something I last knew in 2020. In fact, yesterday I got reminded exactly how unfit I really am.
  18. Also the massive off that Chris Froome suffered during a practice ride before stage four of the Tour de Dauphiné. The sport is dangerous, and the injuries linger. Sad to read about Gino Mäder. That is really tragic.
  19. Mooi weer. You missed the storm of the century back home. Lucky you.
  20. and it's have octuplets
  21. Now that is something I wouldn't mind to see. Dungeons going absolutely mental is a sight to behold.
  22. So the takeaway here is rather just stay home, make a good curry and drink good wine?
  23. I've ridden all over the Cape in the decade I've been on my MTB, yet I still haven't ridden Tokai. I'm just not convinced yet that the effort is worth it. let it be known I absolutely detest any form of waiting or bureaucracy, so that has been the main driving factor (of course, I'm probably building this huge obstacle in my head of driving all the way south from the upper parts of the west coast Blouberg side, potentially for nothing). That said, I'd probably end up that side this weekend if the weather permits. Let's hope it was worth it.
  24. Not quite, but let's just say that chain is a tad stretched.
