I've been using electronic shifting soon after Shimano 9070 Di2 was launched. In almost 5 years I've only ran out out of battery twice, both due to unplanned long rides. after weeks of high mileage. I don't think I'll be able to go back to mechanical shifting. I current still use on a weekly basis the 9070, 9170 and now 9270 di2 group sets. I like the comparison between watches and new tech. There is a place for everything and everyones personal preferences. For now it looks like Groupsets are going electronic, perhaps there will be a return. But like LP's and watches the older gen tech will come at a much bigger "Premium" for "Vintage" components.

Cyclist mentally justify all purchases by NEED, everything is needed. I buy the workshop size bottle of Lube, R250 for 500ml True story!! We are our own enemies.. Listening to the conversations online, on the bike and at LBS, it's the NEED to have the best or just below.. Not many complaints about shortage of Tiagra or 105, but the shortage of DA 9270 cannot be tolerated. "How can such a big company not be able to supply even 50% of the demand in SA? " 🤦‍♂️ What about the rest of the world? SA is small fry compared to the US and Asia. There's backlogs of new bike sales that are on hold due to no availability of DA 12sp GS and this is after the price of a complete new bike almost doubled in the last 3 years. /Rant off.. 😅

Depends on Mods.. typically sellers are backed by the mods. I’ve logged a couple of threads about bad sellers. Both of who created new accounts now known to mods but are still on the platform. This can work but it does not help guide people that are less experienced to cut through BS. I literally bought a FAKE BIKE from a dealer on bikehub. According to them because of the price I should have known! 🤷🏻‍♂️ why not state it in the ad? Meh, there’s guys with in excess of 20/30 ads at a time with thousands of past ads that are not dealers 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m a paid user, because I see value in the platform. Perhaps consider the feedback from the users 🤷🏻‍♂️ I suggested maybe allow paid users to comment, if they miss behave revoke that privilege. Seems there is no appetite for this. Hallelujah I’ve been on the wrong side of sellers and dealers. Lots of fakes/copies/replicas on bikehub. Maybe the mods should spend some time moderating the ads more closely instead? Matrix 2001 for me 👌🏻👏 @Matt if there’s a select few that are the bad apples deal with them. Get them to toe the line. Don’t punish the entire platform.
