  2. This advise is all excellent but no one has asked the most important question. How on earth do you get there?<?: prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /> <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> My calculations show that it may be cheaper to drive two people from CTN than to fly there, but do I go via Bloem or take my life in my hands and drive the shorter route via Transkei.
  3. I BEG your pardon? (/sies>
  4. I think you need to look at losing weight somewhere other than the bike
  5. Sell it to Marius. Tell him it's a special lightweight chain ring.

Luckily Slick Chick' date=' I have never been in the predicament to have to ride a Raleigh. I have always been given decent bikes.[/quote'] Chunky if it was about the bike why did you have to resort to taking drugs?

  8. Pretty damn sick heading just to draw attention to your own 'achievment'.
  9. And you call yourself a cyclist? You may only 'need' one but you should 'want' both
  10. I can't let this topic die without posting this picture of my happy family. Take that!
  11. Is Google broken or what?
  12. While most people were slaving away at the office today, my wife and I were whooping it up at Oak Valley Farm in Elgin. Here are some photos of our ride. This is a film set.
  13. It was on a brand new carbon frame dualie.
  14. Apparently a typical 'Just Riding Along' incident. Seeing as the guy who was riding it works at the LBS I am inclined to believe it too.
  15. Seen at my LBS this morning. Ream those piles the high tech way.
  16. We rode it yesterday. Simply put, Oak Valley is great. Fantastic even. It's the best R20 I have spend on MTBing this year.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> We did both the green and the red routes. Total distance for both was 34km with only 495 meters of climbing. There is NO ?technical? single track, no rocks or roots or massive drop offs. It is all very much like what you see on TV at the Sani2C. It's pristine, fast, flowing, and never ending. The route must easily be 80% single track and stunningly beautiful in a Harkerville kind of way. (blasphemy I know) After a while we just called the place Narnia because around every corner is another view or sight that just takes your breath away. We spent over 90 minutes of our ride simply stopping to look at the beauty of the place I was amazed how the owners have even cut single track into flat fields which join wooded areas to make the journey more fun, but be warned, take soap to wash your hands because the cows think that the single track through the open fields is for walking on, and cows tend to crap where they walk. Carry water in a camelback unless you don't mind eating bulls**t off a water bottle. Directions. On the N2 from Cape Town turn left at the Peregrine Farm Stall near Grabouw, turn right onto the R321 to Villiersdorp and turn right again onto the tar road leading past the Elgin Station and on to the main entrance gate of the farm. You can see some pics at www.theworld.co.za/oakvalley although most of them are taken in open areas because we were having too much fun to stop and take phodies on the single-track.
  17. I did indeed do it, to both my own and my wife's Raleigh MTB's. No ill effects yet. I stripped the bikes this evening to clean and grease and it is still 100% perfect inside there after a year.
  18. I asked Raleigh if I could drill a 2mm hole in my frame at the bottom of the BB housing to help drain water. I got this back from Al Retief. Hi Chris, Your warranty will be secure as long as the hole is no bigger than the 2mm you suggest. I have the same problem (and I implemented the same solution). I am sure that I don?t need to mention this, but don?t forget to remove the BB and crank before drilling the holes. Thanks, AL
  19. That's the best advice you will ever get right there. Swimming as an individual discipline has the least impact on the results if done efficiently, but the most impact on your ability to be strong in the cycle and run if you get it wrong and blow up/hit the wall.
  20. I'm really wanting to update my Luxeon 3 watt leds to something with a 'warmer' light. I also thought of putting an orange photographic filter in front as an experiment. I find that with the very white light of 3 x Luxeons I get no depth perception at all. I found this to be very noticeable at Wiesenof this year.
