  1. It depends on how pissed off the front riders in B are for not making the A cut. Also, with all the pre-A & B groups, there's an overlap in seeding indices between the two. What is certain, the front B pack will collect many A bunch stragglers just for them to fall off again, of course. If front B catches front A, all hell breaks loose or freezes over.
  2. "chuckle" Fair point! One day when we do see fruit sellers hanging out there; everybody will be like, "WTF! there are fruit sellers here"
  3. That group doesn't really exist. The chilled even tempo bunch comes in at 3:15 and later. The high-tempo protagonists will delight you with plenty of surges—all part of the experience you know.
  4. Where do you stay? Welcome! International entries remain open, but don't know if you qualify if you are applying from within.
  5. Should get you 1C
  6. listen up: Sprinkle bicarbonate of soda inside the shoe before a ride. Mixed solution of vinegar and water in spray bottle and spray lightly after a ride. Every couple of weeks place shoes in bag, like a pillowcase or similar, and toss in washing machine. That's it!
  7. Folks, Does anyone have any insight into the likelihood of a well-point working in Loevenstein CT? Perhaps you know somebody with one in the area, I'm hoping.
  8. Pity the distance is so darn short! Anyone know how the league entry numbers are looking?
  9. This question comes up now and again. Perhaps they should put together a few teams, ie Team 1,2 & 3 ...
  10. Long rides will average anywhere from 26kph - 29kph while race speed is typically 38kph - 40kph. TSS for the long training rides could come in at 300 and for a race like the CTCT maybe around 200. Races are obviously high intensity from start to finish while the training ride is at an easy aerobic pace An interesting test would be to see where my crossover point is (the point at which you start burning more carbs than fat as fuel) but until then I'll just judge it on my personal experience.
  11. Wow! That's a lot of consumption. Here's my situation: I don't eat sugars or much carbs at all. On training rides just water gets consumed. Long training rides can be up to six hours. On race day I might have a cereal for breakfast and I'll keep a gel in my pocket "just in case" but never use it. I have never bonked or had any fuelling issues. If our bodies store that much glycogen and our races being as short as they are, why so much sugar intake?
  12. Any rejections? ...cause they making you feel like you one of a few who got in.
  13. Did I see somewhere that PPA members will get notified within 24hrs?
  14. Many of us train with power in parallel with heart rate. I always find it helpful to scrutinise both numbers. Perhaps a handy article on how best to interpret heart rate numbers in relation to the various stages of recovery, fatigue, illness etc.
  15. Oh, the display of arrogance and disdain by this "doyen of the cycling industry" is nothing short of outrageous.
  16. Eliminating hours on the bike that have no substantial influence on your fitness goals. For the time constrained cyclist you see. Like, too many recovery rides or LSD rides where a fitness base already exists.
  17. *Chuckle* I wish cold shots existed. The development of a cold vaccine remains undiscovered for now.
  18. A flu shot will protect you by and large from the various flu strains for that particular season. It will do nothing to protect you against the common cold. The common cold is what most suffer from, erroneously referred to as the flu. Also, you cannot contract the flu as a result of a flu shot.
  19. Yup, also caught my attention immediately. I always thought a team event of about 100+ k's will be darn popular in a month where road events are sparse, well, non existent really. But, I'll take the 180km any day. Get the location right and we'll have a winner on our hands. Sweet PPA!
  20. I will not be handing them a fashion award but, it's clean & clinical.
  21. Everyone I know has thus far received a positive response. I wonder if there are any rejections.
  22. Are there any previously banned dopers from the elites/VA/VB groups now languishing in the fun ride groups after their return?
