  1. To everybody riding tomorrow, enjoy and I hope to meet a few hubbers in Parys. NS. It is quite hot today, remember the hydration and sunscreen!
  2. The Tygerfontein (Tierfontein) road mentioned as the course for the 50km is actually a dirt road. I think they are referring to the Schoemansdrift road which is a tar road for 25km out and 25km back which will give you 50km.
  3. I have an entry available for the 66km.
  4. I have a Mountain King on my bike that is wobbling at the moment. Also thought it was the wheel not running true but it was not the case. Even switched the tyre from back to front (had 2 MK's on the bike at that stage) but it made no difference. And yes, it is quite annoying. For now I will leave it because nothing else is wrong with the tyre.

  7. I've been commuting through winter for a number of years. If you keep on cycling through autumn to winter to summer your lungs will adjust to the cold (mine does). The biggest issue for me is the running nose (snot rockets), which is actually a blessing in disguise because I get a nice sinus rinse everyday. Sorry if it's a bit gory, but it is a fact of cycling . As previously said, dress proper but don't overdo it, you don't want to create a sauna and then have to cope with the cold once you get off the bike.

You were probably the bunch just ahead of me then.
  9. At the back of the Parktool Big Blue Book of Bicycle repair and maintenance there use to be a table listing torque settings for the different parts. Have to add that my book is 8 or 9 years old though.

We take the N12 the last couple of years. Starting from Potch it doesn't really make much difference as we are already on the N12. And we organised wonderful accommodation at some friends in Kimberley.

What route are you guys driving down? N1 or N12?

That was quite nice. Have been looking for it but obviously my search skills are worse than my cycling skills
  15. WTB Silverado on the commuter, WTB Volt Race on the roadbike and WTB Volt Pro on the MTB. WTB works for my back side and the budget.
  16. We came all the way from Potch. Our day already started at 3h00 waking up and leaving from the farm at 4h00. But for us it is worth the effort as it is one of the better organised races.
  17. Told a fellow commuter (although it's the first time I've seen him) to stop at the stop sign. Told him that I don't want to be the one calling his family telling them "hy is getrap deur 'n kar".
  18. Ek het ook in Ottosdal gery en dieselfde as julle beleef. Dit moet seker weens al die klippe en dorings? Ek het ook twee papwiel-gevalle gehelp...ek was tog nie oppad om te wen nie .
  19. Ek hoop ook so! Maar dit behoort steeds 'n lekker dag vir fietsry te wees. Hierdie is een van my gunsteling wedrenne juis omdat dit op die platteland is.
